Yes, sorry Ben. 2.5 years in the first instance — January 2026 (or soon thereafter) until 31 August 2028.

It’s in the full JD, but seemingly fell victim to the brutal character limit of these things.

Interrupting my usual programming to share that my doctoral dissertation has won the Society of American Historians' Allan Nevins Prize!

I'm so grateful to the friends and mentors who have taught me this beautiful profession, especially in dark times.

This is the critical thing to recognize about the so-called "abundance" agenda and the entire branch of YIMBYism it represents:

Its intellectual foundations are fundamentally antidemocratic. It seeks to use the state to impose cultural consensus - and whose culture? Corporate Silicon Valley's.

Kate Willett (@katewillett.bsky.social) considers the groups funding and promoting the "Abundance" faction in the Democratic Party:

“Both Klein and the Tech Right agree on one thing: democracy interferes with the market’s ability to generate abundance.”

Abundance: Big Tech’s Bid for the Democratic Party

Senior Americanists! It is a great time to bring your talents to Oxford for 27-8, 28-9 or 29-30. (Yes, just think about that.) The Harmsworth Visiting Professorship is as lovely a gig as it gets, now with a more transparent process of appointment

An era of effortless industrial supremacy, as I usually put it. And, not coincidentally, the time of strongest US state commitment to free trade.
matthewdownhour.bsky.social
I think people reeeeealllly overestimate the role of trade and industrial policy in US dominance of heavy industry in the 1950s and really underestimate the importance of having dropped high explosives on every facility in Japan or Germany capable of manufacturing a ball bearing
