Day 1848 #Pedal2Work

Pleasant ride to #Melbourne CBD via the Main Yarra Trail. Back to wearing a tshirt instead of the jacket. Weather was pleasant - a little cool, but very comfortable. Some sports riders were out on a training session, but they were too fast for me to keep up.

These results reflect those of our 30km/hr zone trial in Collingwood and Fitzroy.

It’s time for the state government to accept that 30km/hr has been tried, tested (here and overseas), and should be made a standard speed for councils to choose at will.

Safer speeds save lives. 💚
modacitylife.com
In late 2023, Amsterdam introduced a 30 km/h limit. A large number of arterials were lowered from 50 km/h, 4,500 signs installed, 140 lights reconfigured, and 200 km of markings adjusted. Aiming to improve safety, liveability and accessibility, 80% of the road network is now at this critical speed.🧵
People of all ages and abilities walk, cycle, and drive along the low-traffic streets of Amsterdam, which are lined with buildings, trees, bike infrastructure, and prominent 30 km/hr signage.
