Good God… It’s already against the law… It won’t be enforced, so in a real sense there is no law… anywhere on the federal level. Pushing legislation to pass a new law… that also won’t be enforced… is an extraordinary waste of time. The cluelessness on display is breathtaking.
Schumer: "Today Leader Jeffries and I are joining together to push legislation to prevent unlawful meddling in the Treasury Department's payment systems and protect Americans across the country ... we call our legislation, 'stop the steal'"

im fucking sick and tired of liberals and democrats running away from who we should be.
I’ve been keeping my head down since the election. I needed time. The horror of the right cannot be overestimated. That said, the Dems as a party, have been a failure. A new left - a far more robust left - is desperately needed. youtu.be/boHuVS5K3GM?...

Doing long form videos is a kind of therapy, and sometimes as a result, after you’re done you realize… you aren’t... done, that is! Going through the process of trying to get a handle on my own thoughts... elucidated more thoughts! I’m fairly easy to find there - just input my name - I’m not hiding!

New YouTubing - if you can spell my name, you can find me over there. In this one, I try to figure out, or at least engage in the process of finding out, where I’m at concerning a particularly lost society (ours - lucky us).

If you’ve been following along, it’s probably fair to say I haven’t exactly been terribly upbeat about the future of democracy here in les Etats-Unis as of late. You can hardly blame me. But, allow me to play devil’s advocate… with myself. It would appear that people throughout government…

the american voters who chose this are far less responsible than the reps and appointees and judges in both parties who allowed trump to go unpunished in obvious violation of the public trust and their oaths of office
There’s no law or Constitution if nobody will enforce it. A lot of folks are making legal/constitutional arguments - but with no ability to enforce it, none of those arguments are going anywhere. Thus… what now?

I think I will probably be here more often, but… am not terribly sure I’ll necessarily be posting like mad here. The truth is I could probably use a break and a rest from all the bad news, but we shall see…

Our society and its future will be decided by engagement. If all the smart folks won’t take it anymore and start enforcing norms on all those wanting to tear it down, we can be successful. It’s going to require that. It’s going to be uncomfortable and it’s worth doing.

It’s extraordinary that people believe if we win the election… it’s all over. Was that the case in 2020? After that election is when it REALLY got crazy and if Biden wins, we’ll be in that situation again. They have no intention of playing by any rules and will (and did) resort to violence.

I occasionally YouTube - it’s an experiment, but I have a blast doing it. It’s been a year now that I’ve been over there and I thought it was time to discuss whether I’ve learned anything in that time. Check it out if you’re so inclined… youtu.be/6KwEGrpVKaM

Agreed. We have to match our opponents intensity… in every moment. It galvanizes our base and makes them want to vote. Nobody is attracted to weak, needy or someone who is perceived as incapable of defending themselves.
A special emergency edition. Democrats need to join the fight over the Trump verdict, in earnest, as vigorously as Republicans have joined it, and they need to do it now.

It was an incredible moment to watch. I like Psaki, and I think she’s tough, but when the moment came to really get tough… there was always a reason to back off (which were specious). People rally around a fighter. It’s extraordinary that they don’t get that.
On Thursday night, Jen Psaki gave the clearest explanation and defense of the Democrats’ light touch approach, which has people so alarmed. I understand why her MSNBC co-panelists were so flabbergasted. www.offmessage.net/p/democrats-...

It’s a great point. This inability to play hardball and to often run for euphemistic language is why I remain an independent. I can’t run with folks who won’t fight back - it makes you doubt their commitment. If the Democrats won’t fight, they don’t deserve to win. I think voters will do their
If the current clamor for Dems to fight this information war, under these historic circumstances, doesn’t force the party into a more combative mode, it’s hard to imagine anything ever will. www.offmessage.net/p/democrats-...

Very possibly. The party doesn’t seem to understand that their base wants to fight back and wants an aggressive stance from their leadership. It’s not great when the leadership can’t figure out, or simply refuses to heed, what their own base is asking of them.
Dems are going to regret it if they just sit back and let Trump surrogates fill the airwaves with accusations the trial was corrupt because it didn’t end in an acquittal

At some point Democratic elected officials will notice that when Donald Trump has a personal setback the majority of the population literally celebrates in the street, I hope.

The people are fine - they want to after Trumpism aggressively. The Democrats find it difficult to do that. It’s a problem.
I think we should recall that there were those that thought that this case wasn’t all that strong. It was the weakest case. Those that said that, were not just wrong, they were incredibly wrong. Those that had a more aggressive view… had it right. Yes, keep score people.

While it might be easy to mock Maga assholes for their anger in this moment, take some time to remember that that anger is actually coming from a place of profound weakness, and we should be sure to mock them for that too.

Can you blame them? It seems a fairly clear eyed assessment. Maybe… if more of them could actually get elected and our politics wasn’t dominated by an elder generation that has no intention of passing the torch, they’d feel more invested. Seems… reasonable.

Standards have been skewed. Liberal arguments are never quite good enough, because they’re not 100% perfect. On the right, that standard doesn’t apply - as long as “some people say” or “some people believe” (and that can be 3%), that means they’re persecuted. Doesn’t add up does it? Of course not.
