Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. apparently embraces the outdated "miasma theory" of disease instead of the widely accept "germ theory" of disease, which may help explain some of the actions he's been taking.

Please do contact us if you're a scientist at a university or outside NIH, and you serve on an #NIH council or advisory board, including the intramural Board of Scientific Counselor review boards (the reviews that impose high standards on NIH!)

We'd love to be in touch.

The Texas measles outbreak has claimed the first U.S. measles death in a decade, hitting unvaccinated children hardest. Measles doesn’t just infect, it erases immune memory, leaving survivors vulnerable for years. With vaccine rates declining and misinformation spreading, the risks are growing. 🛟 🩺

@pauloffit.bsky.social Surely we can go rogue and have the panel meet anyway, without FDA official involvement? If the administration doesn't want to lead, so be it.
An FDA vaccine advisory committee meeting scheduled for March to select the strains to be included in next season's flu shot has been canceled, a panel member says.

Digital book burning indeed.

Science advances through public debate, peer review, and replication - not through deletion of findings we disagree with.

Removing published research reveals not just the fragility of their position, but also their fear of the truth.

“We are deeply concerned about this causal act that toys with the accessibility of publicly funded research, coupled with a range of attacks on the public funding of science… and federal researchers. We see this as the government playing with truth, a 2025 digital equivalent of book burning”
Our published work in a government journal curiously disappeared
Several studies for a CDC journal were purged without explanation before a judge’s order restored them. That's unacceptable.
