I probably post about politics too much but my shitposts are incredible.
I am 6’1” and 5/8ths which I know because my father is 6’2” on the nose and where EXACTLY my growth spurt was going to stop became an area of intense focus for a minute there.
there are two heights, you are either 5'11" or you are 6'2", do not cop to anything in between or else risk anyone you meet asking to measure you immediately because people are super weird about being six feet tall

A perhaps obvious to others thing that just occurred to me today is that unlike, say, National Guard units who do genuinely have to weigh some level of consequence to simply stoping one day ICE agents can just…quit. Like they could just walk up to their boss and go “I’m done.”

My incredibly hot take that the reign of terror sucked has of course revealed a love of Emperor Napoleon I was unaware I had.
I think it’s bad Jacobins killed a bunch of innocent people even if they were right about ditching the king completely.

I think people on here really overestimate the influence of Twitter because it’s where journalists we used to respect went to get their brain cooked and underestimate how screwed we are from TikTok where folks I know irl are getting their brains cooked and loving it.

I really do blame superhero movies for this where fan casting and fan favorite directors for a project have given way to a world where “understanding” film means pretending to be a studio executive.
I'm baffled by how so many film fans (not even critics or industry weirdos like myself) seem obsessed with data. When did fandom become such a numbers game? Why are you so concerned with budgets, Rotten Tomatoes scores, Letterboxd averages, etc?
People are whining that One Battle After Another cost too much money and will have a soft opening but whatever because a) it’s not your money they spent b) movies have a life beyond the opening weekend c) I expect strong legs for this one because everyone loves it

I think this is true but the confusion come from England needing a modern “consent of the governed“ nation state about a century before there was a real ideological conception of one.

My hot take is that this does not even rank in the top five most weird and fucked up things Janeway does because Tuvok and Neelix both approve of the separation after the fact. Two guys who couldn't argue for their life at the time beats one guy who could.
At the end, Tuvix makes an impassionated speech arguing for his right to live as a full, unique sentient being and begs the crew not to kill him. Captain Janeway then solves the dilemma by completely ignoring his appeal and separates him anyway.

Second guess Janeway simulator 2026 looks pretty fun actually. Voyager was a frustrating show to watch but has always been a fascinating setting/premise to explore.
I truly think we can see the first poll with him in the 20s by the end of the year. This is all from the cracks starting to form and people getting afraid of how bad it could get. There are like six different dams waiting to burst.
