I genuinely cannot explain the degree to how it shaped my entire adult life! Although having worked there means I have the wildest domino effect story in nearly every group of people ever bsky.app/profile/raha...
What's the biggest example of the domino meme in my life? I'm gonna have to go with "I got bored on the sleepy overnight shift at the data center -> Russia invaded Ukraine".
Struggled to think of something that fit... most of the cause/effect stuff in my life has been pretty straightforward.

I think: AOL Chat Room -> owning a champion schipperke.

WELL NOW, would you look at that? A massive, 24-YEAR-LONG study of MORE THAN 1.2 MILLION people in Denmark found NO LINK between aluminum in childhood vaccines and autism, asthma, OR chronic disorders.

Aluminum is an ADJUVANT.

It ENHANCES your immune response to a vaccine.

That’s it.

Architect Frank Gehry died today aged 96. He leaves behind a legacy of impressive buildings. As fans of architecture and modern art we absolutely had to visit the Guggenheim in Bilbao back in 2018 and we were not disappointed at all.

Also USPS didn't loss money because it doesn't make money because it's not a business and if never makes money to begin with.

It did however deliver over 112.5 billion pieces of mail in 2024 and that doesn't even include packages.
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

We’re entering a new era of childhood mortality & disability, & almost no one will care bc they’ll just get used to “the new normal” within a few years. They’ll ignore the harm.

How do I know? Because that’s exactly how it went w/COVID, which is the 2nd largest threat to childhood health rn.
Breaking: After contentious debates and three failed attempts at a vote, a federal vaccine committee decided on Friday to end the decades-long recommendation that all newborns be immunized at birth against hepatitis B.

Since becoming a parent I have not, in fact, understood the parents who say “if you were a parent you’d understand” about vaccine hesitancy. Being in charge of this fragile little miracle has me saying things like “give her all the vaccines. Turn this baby into a pincushion” to doctors

I'm begging any artists still using Twitter claiming it's integral to their work to just leave. It's been revealed the site works off a made up "credit score" from hell and punishes you for posting like a normal human being.

Abandon Twitter for good. It's time. It's been time.

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

This is 100% true. A guy paid a million dollars JUST to write the first book about it. Techbros were absolutely convinced it was world-changing.
Younger people who didn't witness it cannot fathom the hype around the Segway. Every news station agreed it would revolutionize the entire social fabric of the Earth. That all future humans would divide history between the savage days of the past, and the soon to be new era of zoom zoom scoot scoot.
