Today, we're launching Transforming Public Services for a Modern Wales. This report sets out a clear path for the next Welsh Government to move beyond short-term fixes and deliver better, human-centred services.

In today’s episode of #FixTheForms, an example of how long it can take to roll out a fix in a complex organisation.

The NHS improved the “Friends and Family” in 2020, but @blangry.bsky.social just got asked the previous bad version. 5 years later.

Net promoter score has no place as a research methodology in health services.

I still blame Charlie for the demolition of my favourite building, Birmingham Central Library, after he said he hated it in the 80s.

That’s Blumenthal-style fusion. All good.

You can imagine a “despairing parent” inspired taster menu.

“This dish is inspired by the time my daughter refused to eat the Shepherds Pie I made because she didn’t like the texture, but then ate a Coco Pop she found under the kitchen table”

Student on train put a pen on the table and watched it roll slowly to the other side. Then he looked up with a satisfied grin in the hope the bloke opposite had enjoyed watching it as much as him (I don’t think he was bothered).

Revolut didn’t spring fully formed from a Dubai sand dune.
It grew in London, funded by UK and EU investors, hiring UK engineers, built on UK infrastructure, by people educated in UK schools.

But sure, he “did it all himself.”

I see the bros are all over LinkedIn this week, clutching their cappuccinos and defending Revolut’s Nik Storonsky for fucking off to Dubai, arguing we need to tax startup founders less.

Because apparently if we don’t subsidise billionaires, they’ll flee.

In today’s brand new episode of #SystemsOfHarm I chat to accessibility specialist @tink.uk about how design systems can help us create more accessible UX, how to advocate for our disabled product users, and whether AI will help or hinder us in the process

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Designers* need to get excited about business models, regulation, and tax policy.

*that is to say anyone who thinks about intentionally improving policies and material conditions from an ethical, evidence-informed position.

Yes, but have we learned anything or are we just doomed to make the same stupid Sisyphean missteps over again? How will this be cleaned up after this bubble bursts? ⏳

In Leeds for a talk on ADHD in women (for family reasons). If the speaker doesn’t open with a “Thank you all for managing to get here on time” joke, I’ll be very disappointed.

We're delighted to share that our MD, @hilaryonline.bsky.social, has been nominated for the 2026 Northern Power Women Awards!

It’s well-deserved recognition of Hil's impact as an advocate for inclusion, both within Nexer Digital and the wider community.

Good luck, Hil!

Old MacBook randomly switches off, which corrupts the external HDD, which then needs rebuilding via Disk Utility. Such larks!
deanvipond.bsky.social
Opening up old iPhoto libraries on a HDD takes ages to build, then when you upload photos the files are presented via the upload date, not the metadata of when they were bloody taken, so I am having to create folders for each year.

Can only do 30-odd photos at a time otherwise Firefox crashes.
deanvipond.bsky.social
Finally trying to put 20+ years of digital photos from various HDDs onto iCloud. Man, it’s so arduous.

I have a hard drive which won’t be read by my MacBook, so I need an old MacBook, where the only way of getting stuff online is via an old version of Firefox (Safari or Chrome won’t work).

Side note: one of mine has recently had an ADHD assessment (no prizes for guessing which one).

On a bus. Fares across Worcestershire are £1 per journey every weekend in October.

Four seniors boarded. They are loudly complaining. Quote: "They shouldn't do this £1 fare. It's workshy folk getting stuff for free yet again. No-one gives us pensioners anything."

The seniors all used bus passes.
