Have you noticed that these days when time travellers grab you by the shoulders and ask what year it is, when you reply "2024" they no longer say "Thank God. I'm not too late"?

A reminder

"Taking luxury cars out of disability" saves the taxpayer ZERO. Disabled people pay the cost difference themselves.

It also means they can't get a replacement car guarantee. So if you're disabled, you won't be able to get to work if your car breaks down.

You know how when you pair with people and you're a bit tired and they're doing all the work and you've kind of zoned out, and when you come to try to understand the code a few days later you're kind of coming to it cold?

Delegate everything to AI if you want that feeling to be permanent.

When you hear what Rachel Reeves has in store in the Budget, remember that there were ALWAYS other choices.

Labour have deliberately and consciously chosen to ignore the fact that Brexit is draining up to £90 billion a year from the UK economy.

That's a gap no amount of taxation can fill.

To the people putting up Union Jacks on trees in the field: you don't live here, we know what message you're trying to send and to whom, and you're not sending it to my neighbours on my patch. If you want to waste your money putting them up I'll keep cutting them down.

Juries are not perfect.

Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials.

But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having.

They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.

I keep wanting to, in fact I'm *determined* to do so in my lifetime.

Dead set.

People don't really like political ads, but banning them is worse.
Dutch Nazis are advertising on Instagram, despite Meta's "ban" on political ads in the EU. Meta and Google's decision to stop political ads in Europe was (as predicted) a bad one, that favours the extremists and foreign influence campaigns who don't care about the "rules".

I kind of feel like this should be written on a bus.
The UK is losing up to £250m a day in lost tax revenue due to the economic impact of Brexit, House of Commons Library analysis for the Lib Dems suggests.

Brexit has blown a "black hole of [up to] £90 billion a year in the public finances" the party says. Even under lower estimates the hit is ~£65bn

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

I'll also note that this is being framed as "supply chain security" when the actual problem is the combined set of capabilities of npm and github, both of which are the property of microsoft. this is a microsoft problem

Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have £40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.

In a previous iteration of my career, I sometimes worked with kids who had been lured by adults on the internet. Without fail, it started on a Meta product. Reading these allegations makes me want to spit fire, because I’ve seen the end result and it can take a lifetime to heal from.

Buckle up friend it’s time for bread made out of crisps 🍞 🥔

Full disclosure it was not a flawless first attempt.

The aim was to make a loaf of bread where the majority ingredient is crisps.

1. Buy 450g of crisps, without shame

Increasingly I'm coming to think of creative productions intended for other humans as acts of love, whereas I'm regarding ersatz "creative" productions via your Sunos and other AI platforms as acts of at best indifference and at worst ignorant or wilful vandalism

Sorry to keep banging on about it but it's literally *they are on Twitter and think it's the majority view*
This is pretty striking and makes me wonder exactly what Labour have been up to in making policy seemingly in response to / fear of the former rather than the middle group.
Why do people think England flags have been raised on lampposts?
