I see so many images on Bluesky that I'd like to repost but don't because they have no alt text. So many!

I know we've been conditioned away from courtesy and kindness online, but a little effort with alt text goes a long way

and again - literally just the hobby horse of some random anonymous Twitter accounts, enraging how quickly they managed to turn their horrid posting into actual government policy and rhetoric
“The Motability scheme was set up to protect the most vulnerable. Not to subsidise the lease on a Mercedes Benz,” Reeves says.

Misleading and nasty in equal measure.

As someone who worked in tech through the dotcom crash, I've been thinking a bit about how public-service orgs were great incubators of digital talent in the early 2000s. Fanciful as it seems, the BBC and C4 were basically hotbeds of talent development and risk taking.

Sorry to keep banging on about it but it's literally *they are on Twitter and think it's the majority view*
This is pretty striking and makes me wonder exactly what Labour have been up to in making policy seemingly in response to / fear of the former rather than the middle group.
Why do people think England flags have been raised on lampposts?

It’s the exclusive everyone wanted, the story that will win next year’s Pulitzer…

I can reveal London’s giant AI generated Christmas artwork, the subject of much online mockery, is being torn down - and I honestly *genuinely* think you’ll never guess why. www.londoncentric.media/p/ai-artwork...
London's giant AI artwork to be torn down
The bizarre story of why a much-talked-about creation is being torn down. Plus: Docklands Light Railway extension, giant laser stalks the night sky, and more tales of Android phone theft rejection.

Broken record mode

You can’t do any service transformation work without working with operations colleagues.

Issuing laws and publishing policy papers is pointless if you don’t talk about and workshop these documents with the people who are supposed to follow them.

These are the best moments, too.
Yesterday, I co-ran the second local #ServiceStandard workshop.

After visiting the State of Brandenburg and 2 of its services recently, we checked in for 3 hours with members of various service teams in Hamburg.

We looked at ID card renewal, social services, and notifying of a change of address.

“The delusion hasn’t changed, but the formatting has” sums up where we are pretty well.
The bigger change is presentation, historically, these emails were visually chaotic: sudden colour changes, ALL CAPS, screenshots pasted at random. Classic signs of disordered thinking. Now they’re neat, structured, and grammatically consistent. The delusion hasn't changed, but the formatting has.

🧵🚨

The UK’s independent scientific bodies are highly vulnerable to politicisation - over the past 5 months I've been working with @martinmckee.bsky.social to map out their vulnerabilities and it's not good news.

Today our report is published!

The ADHD Taskforce full report is expected to land today. We already covered what we expect to see in it and how we will benchmark.
The ADHD Taskforce promised its final report this summer.

Summer is over. No report. Every delay means more children waiting, adults cut off from treatment, families left managing bureaucracy instead of care.

We can’t wait. So we’ve drafted what’s missing.
