@stefanmilo.bsky.social Just watched your "bread loaf idol" video (excellent work, as usual ... thank you). Has anyone compared these to medieval "split tally sticks"? They were a fairly popular way of formalizing contracts by breaking a stick so that each party to the agreement could keep half.

This seems like a wonderful gesture. At least some 15 US scientists will be able to continue their work. It's not many, compared to the harm Trump is doing, but if more of this comes from other institutions it should mitigate some harm.
Aix-Marseille University in France will provide 15 million Euros over 3 years to 15 American scientists who feel threatened or hindered in their research by the orange manbaby.
French University to Fund American Scientists Who Fear Trump Censorship
The program, called ‘safe place for science,’ offers American scientists funding to continue their research in France.

Y'all give Tony some feedback on this, please. I'm hoping to benefit from the answers he gets.
Game makers: I've got some help on my latest game. I've got a willing collaborator who can write, edit, and do art. They want to pitch in. But I'm really bad at collaborating!

So, how do you take advantage of willing help (that includes paid help)? What are your do's and don'ts of collaboration?

We're at 334 anti-LGBTQ bills.

I very much enjoyed this. Maybe you will, too. What do we owe each other?

I want to remind everyone that your local library is both physical AND digital.

You hate streaming everything because the price is ridiculous? Library.

You hate ads because they're every 3 mins or less? Library.

You want to reduce your digital footprint? Library.

You want sourced info? Library.

We've got to be ready to push back, HARD. The way I see it, our best path forward is to thrash them in 2026. Take the House. Take the Senate. Until then, no rest for any of them. Rs must be opposed and Ds must be flogged into action. If you're more progressive than your local Dems: Run. For. Office!
The National Parks truly are one of America’s best ideas. They will be more endangered than ever from the incoming administration, along with a long list of things. They are wondrous places and worth fighting to protect. This pic is from my last trip to Yosemite.

I'm very interested in this research. "Screw" technology isn't unheard-of in the middle ages. Medieval folks were using this technology to pump water, for armor attachments, and a host of other applications. But wood screws for construction? I haven't heard of that. Look at that shank! Looks modern!
Many questions on why and how screws were developed, and why the medieval screw looks so "advanced". Welcome to my dissertation topic! Want to know more? Stay tuned! 🙂
Medieval screw! Medieval screw! 😱❤️🔩 I almost screamed when stumbling upon it (instead I gasped so loud I nearly gave some passersby a heart attack). It’s the oldest known evidence of the constructive use of screws 🤯

It is exhausting having to research and figure out everything from black plastics to best ventilation practices to COVID vaccine schedules, I know this is a wild idea but have we thought about creating publicly funded government bodies that could manage and regulate this stuff on our behalf

This thread fascinated me. An evocative journey through the mystery of someone else's history.
I am part of the 2nd generation born in the so-called "Recovered Territories"– formerly German lands that are now part of Poland.
In the spirit of Lower Silesian pride, I'd like to give you an idea of what it means to live surrounded by traces of a foreign population.
