She really is that good. Socialism is part of the woven fabric of the United States just like the lives and struggles of all those women and men who endured oppression and hardship yet built a decent life in a new land … a New York!

Can only hope the appropriate contingency planning is happening within and between European (and Canadian) ministries. They can’t/won’t acknowledge it publicly but NATO as an alliance with US is gone. Putin sees the same as the rest of us and will act/plan accordingly.
Must-read piece for Europeans still clinging to the hope that Trump will do the right thing eventually in a European crisis: he won't. He supports authoritarians abroad because he wants to be one of them at home. Protecting democracy anywhere is not on his agenda.
It would have seemed preposterous to write such a piece about America, but the impossible, the implausible is becoming reality. The ground is being laid for an authoritarian takeover.
