In most jurisdictions, lethal self-defense is justified if the user of force reasonably believes that grievous bodily harm is imminent to themselves OR a third party. ICE agents are always imminently about to grievously harm someone at any moment. If you see them, it is imminent.

Yesterday, white nationalist paramilitary forces attacked another Chicago neighborhood with chemical weapons. Families and at least one infant were gassed. This morning, they are kidnapping more immigrants both here and in other metros (D.C., L.A. still being terrorized).

The idea that this political violence is the consequence of people on both sides cheering it on seems like a sympathetic point but just doesn’t hold up to history. In my adult life, I’ve seen people on the right do everything from kill politicians to kill regular citizens, and it’s shrugged off.

Cops are trained to just keep saying this for the benefit of their own cameras even though you aren’t resisting. Without 3rd party video, it’s often hard to tell what’s really happening & what is manipulation.
