I’ve been sitting on the design for a very nice, secure, efficient research data sharing app for years (choosing to do other projects instead) because UK governments are twitchy control freaks who want to spy on everything and I don’t want the hassle.
Encryption isn't hostile. It's a bedrock of our cybersecurity 🔐

The UK's national security laws join a long line of attempts to frame encrypted messaging as something to be broken into pieces.

Without it, we're more open to threats from hackers and criminals.

idea: before anyone can censor a video game for containing dark topics, they have to watch a video of two average children playing with barbie dolls for an hour.

I wish more sites did text only versions. My brain is under constant assault switching tabs and trying to parse busy sites.

E.g.
text.npr.org - Text only NPR

Cartoonist refused entry to France for attending a memorial day for political activist. This is Elena's best guess because it doesn't seem she was given a clear reason. Mad situation.
Complètement hallucinant, Elena Mistrello, autrice de BD italienne invitée par le festival de Colomiers a été refoulée à l'aéroport par la police française pour avoir participé à une commémoration pacifique des dix ans de la mort de Clément Méric...

Interesting post. Most of this seems the way to go, especially with you kids.

One thought this sparked for me is the slight difference between using Perplexity vs Claude/ChatGPT.

Perplexity more often surfaces the raw content from search rather than summarising / presenting conclusions.

Doing research into color spaces has been fun. I still haven't decided if I'm an HSL or HSV kind of guy.

That said, I'm really struck by this black & white diagram from a patent filed in 1983, showing how color maps to the HSL space (Hue, Saturation, Lightness).
