Not to be a wide-eyed naïf about such things but... am I right in thinking that they levelled an entire building to get to one guy and *that* is not controversial to anyone in the American media or political class, only that this information was recklessly shared in an unsecured chat?

These proposed changes are at risk of flying below the radar because they are highly technical.

But CMS's own estimates suggest that marketplace coverage losses *in 2026* will be 34-90% higher than the coverage losses from expiration of enhanced subsidies alone.
CMS projects 750k-2 million people will "lose coverage as a result of this rule" in 2026 but notes this may be an underestimate due to administrative burdens imposed by the rule (pp. 271-2). This is on top of millions CMS expects to lose coverage if enhanced tax credits expire this year (p. 260).
The new proposed rules relating to the health insurance Marketplace for 2026: www.cms.gov/newsroom/fac...
If finalized, these rules would result in a lot fewer people enrolled in Marketplace coverage, more hurdles to enrollment, higher out-of-pocket limits, etc.

Great new work from @kff.org --

This is interesting because the question is less what they will do as *legislators* and more what they will do as *politicians*. AOC is a member of the House minority, but she’s doing a lot of politics about all of this anyway.
CNN: Is democratic leadership is doing enough?

SENATOR JACKY ROSEN: I think that we have to realize that we're in the minority. They have the White House, they have the House, and they have the Senate. So the tools that are available to us here as legislators...they are limited.
