President Trump's Claim of an "Irrefutable" Argument Supporting His Right to Unilaterally Impose Voter ID and Election Rules May Be Based on Insane Claim that Marriott Hotel Manager Found Secret Text ...
Yesterday I noted the latest set of unhinged social media posts from President Trump in which he declared that voter id requirements and other election changes would be imposed in the midterms via exe...

Totally agree, I just find it annoying every day to hear some MAGA-head in the admin speculating about the elections.
His attacks on the midterms are real and dangerous… and aren’t going to work. Running down the case for an optimistic threat assessment @theunpopulist.net :
Worry, Don't Panic, Over Trump's Efforts to Subvert the Elections
America's system is quite foolproof but he can still try to delegitimize it

You hear "David Boreanaz as Jim Rockford" and the five-word sentence tells you exactly what the show is and exactly what it's going to be for 140 episodes, to the degree that the show is simultaneously an inevitable hit and needn't exist at all.

This is NOT a horrible piece of casting. I have a fair amount of respect for David Boreanaz's old school TV star vibe.

This is absolutely the least INSPIRED piece of casting imaginable.
I think this is probably fine - Boreanaz is a reliable actor who can be situationally funny and has even played a (vampire) private eye before. But I think I’d be more excited if NBC had gone a little outside the box, as we were all talking about a month ago.
David Boreanaz to Star in NBC’s ‘Rockford Files’ Reboot
The former ‘SEAL Team,’ ‘Bones’ and ‘Angel’ star will take on a role first played by James Garner.

Though he'll live on forever in memories and memes as Dawson and Mox, James Van Der Beek had a comically weird side that he utilized well in things like "The Rules of Attraction," "Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23" and the supremely odd (that it existed, mostly) "What Would Diplo Do?" #RIP
James Van Der Beek, Star of ‘Dawson’s Creek,’ Dies at 48
He also starred in the films ‘Varsity Blues’ and ‘The Rules of Attraction’ and in the sitcom ‘Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23.’

I just will not get over how funny it is that the administration is being bedeviled by something they just can't absorb, which is a zealot who actually believes what he's saying.
Massie: "She didn't answer anything. She came here ready to talk about the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq, which seems kind of crazy to me."

What if we had an entire foreign policy based on the petty resentments and insecurities of mediocre weak men?
Trump: "So I put on a 30% tariff, which is very low. I got an emergency call from I believe the prime minister of Switzerland. She was very aggressive ... I didn't really like the way she talked to us, so instead of giving her a reduction, I raised it to 39%."

You definitely don’t need to show ID before you get on a train.

I’ve actually flown without a license before* and you can fly if you have some other proof that it’s your ticket (like a credit card) and get patted down.
Markwayne Mullin defends "show me your papers": "If you're here legally, there's nothing to hide. Most people already are walking around with a government-issued ID, meaning your Real ID or your driver's license. If you go board a train here, you gotta show your ID."

Prasad overruled FDA staff to reject Moderna's flu vaccine application
The rejection is the latest instance of Vinay Prasad overruling career FDA scientists to place vaccines under harsher scrutiny.

Like it’s so bananas, and yet clearly there are some large groups of people running around in fear of sharia law, and I’d like to know who caused that.

It will surprise y’all to hear that there are no “Muslims taking over the state” and there is no “sharia law” in Texas that threatens anyone.

This is genuinely disgusting.

2020 SBHTS feels more like the last of its kind in being a modern but more traditionally restrained performance in both musical, staging and TV presentation. The one after that with The Weeknd was forced by COVID restrictions to be more visually creative and those innovations stucked and improved
The 2020 Super Bowl half-time show was led by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, joined by a Spanish-language guest rapper named... Bad Bunny. Less political content (no LatAm flags) but you did not see this RW influencer "how dare these people invade OUR sport" reaction.
Honestly, if you told me this was an SNL sketch, I’d say, “Wow. When did they get funny writers?”

on the balance i think partisan gerrymandering is bad but the only way it ends is if democrats weaponize it against republicans everywhere they can. wiping out republican lawmakers in blue states might bring the GOP to the table to end the practice.
