Someone asked
“for those who have lived
through both
9/11 era and Covid
which do you think
had the more poignant change
on American culture,”
so I asked my friend, the historian,
and she replied
that it’s too early to say
for none of us
has lived through Covid yet.

If I’m being truly honest,
then yes, I am tired
of wearing a mask
of taking precautions
of reading health studies
yes, I am tired,
but what exhausts me
what truly exhausts me
is being asked
if I’m tired of those things
by people who wonder
why they keep getting sick.

Apparently
a new international study
has found “a significant
post-pandemic rise
in disorders
of gut-brain interaction,
including irritable bowel syndrome
and functional dyspepsia,”
a finding which suggests
that in our guts we know
we are not really post-pandemic.

A legal permanent resident researching cures for Lyme disease has been detained by immigration officials for over a week.

He has reportedly been denied access to an attorney and his family has not been given a reason for his detention.

We cannot become immune to this cruelty.

In a letter
the painter Georgia O’Keefe
wrote “I have done

And I sympathize
with how she felt
for I have done

for myself
to be myself again.

I only wish
pandemics
were as short
as summers.

Norfolk Southern & Union Pacific announced a merger yesterday.

If approved, the combined railway giant would control 40% of rail freight in the US.

In 75% of US industries, fewer companies control more of the business than 20 years ago.

The monopolization of America continues.

It's become clear that this administration is just a protracted war on anybody who's read a book without pictures in it. It's a miracle we're all still getting up and going to work every morning. The psychological drain is the point, and I'm increasingly grateful to the people who are still decent.

Yes, of course, it’s a problem
that Covid is back.
Though unfortunately
the far bigger problem,
is that Covid
never really left.

how many studies do we need

It's pointless trying to convince climate deniers that climate change is real. The only evidence they'll accept is the extinction of all life on Earth.

The people who lost children and other loved ones in the Texas floods are owed honest answers from officials. They should be told why flash flood warnings issued hours earlier were not conveyed to people in the path of the water. They don’t need more prayers from politicians. They need answers.
