American Agriculture would prefer to kill the Gulf of Mexico and recreate the Dust Bowl just to get jet fuel from 0.3% to 0.7% biofuel—rather than use land to grow food for Americans to eat.
rfhirschfeld.bsky.social
And by “new markets” I don’t mean biofuels.

Though I fear we’re about to hear a chorus of voices calling for the government to manufacture yet more demand for biofuels.

It's dumb to start wars you can't win.

China doesn't need our beans. Other countries are happy to compete in a race to the ecological bottom to supply China.

Time to build new markets—ones that don’t depend on exporting a generic crop at the expense of our land & water.

And technically does the DOE contrarian report even exist? A draft was released with a call for public comments. But the DOE group was disbanded because it had been illegally created without finalizing its report.

Koonin spending an entire WSJ column criticizing @nationalacademies.org’s report for not being a review of his DOE climate contrarian report when (1) to my knowledge, the Academies have never reviewed a gov’t report without being asked (though such an independent review, or comparable, is necessary…

It is encouraging to see Maryland Secretary of Natural Resources Secretary Kurtz fighting for stronger Chesapeake Bay Agreement. Maryland & Virginia support achieving long-delayed pollution-reduction goals by 2035, EPA just wants to kick the can down the road. news.maryland.gov/dnr/2025/10/...

I am staunchly behind my Senator on this. They are literally killing our grandkids by rejecting the climate crisis. We must prevail.

They are stealing taxpayer dollars from blue states because Democrats in Congress refuse to give Trump a blank check for his authoritarianism.

Corruption. Coercion. Blackmail. Lawlessness.

I won’t bend the knee to a wannabe dictator and his cronies. We will prevail.

Comment by Attorneys General about the EPA's proposed endangerment finding rollback. They are not impressed.

I was pleased to see our Climate Experts' review get referenced many times in this.

Managers are meeting today on revisions to the Bay Agreement, but Feds are not there because of shutdown. I noted that after nearly 40 years in pursuit of pollutant reductions, lack of deadline is effectively a capitulation that we will never achieve them.

In the 32 years I have lived on my property near Annapolis, Maryland,I have never seen anything close to the level of mast seeding as this year. 3 species of oak and American beech. Watch out for Lyme disease in a couple of years.

The United States Secretary of Defense (aka, Major Pete) is either (a) openly celebrating Nazis and planning to destroy the US government from within or (b) a punk-assed internet troll trying to look tough to offset his gross deficiencies. Neither is good.

I stood with the @agu.org leadership and 1000 other scientists to affirm: "Climate change, which is unequivocally driven by human activities that increase greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, is endangering human health and welfare in the United States and globally."

AGU submitted our letter to the EPA in defense of the science behind the endangerment finding.

Together, we stand for peer-reviewed research and climate action. The EPA should take note before moving forward.

I really don't see anything new in this joint statement. ✅ More coordinated, integrated and useful science. ✅ More integrated research capacity. ✅ New technical tools such as Digital Twin (the artist formerly known as models ) & integrated ecosystem assessments.

In the Post (& elsewhere), Energy Secretary Wright continues to get basic facts wrong. He claims “We’ve been talking about ‘electrify everything’ for a while. Today, 15 percent of energy in manufacturing comes from electricity, same as it was 25 years ago.” False. Here's the real global data.
