Reminder that in the UK an incoming radical, populist government would have immediate access to immense, unchecked executive power.

And the current government is doing nothing to protect us from that.
NEW

The UK constitution is even more vulnerable than the US constitution

In the face of an illiberal radical assault, what has happened politically in America could easily happen in the UK

Please read this. The UK political & media establishment is asleep at the wheel.

We have made ourselves wholly dependent on a Trump ally for our national security at the exact moment Trump is threatening to invade a NATO ally

Thank you for voicing this. It is totally unacceptable for Wolfson to take this brief while Shadow AG! I hope to hear more on this and action taken, but we can be assured it won’t be from Badenoch. I see few UK news outlets are reporting it. The Mirror has:

Fury as top Tory gives Roman Abramovich legal support amid Ukraine ultimatum
Campaigners have voiced their fury after it emerged Tory shadow Attorney General is a member of Roman Abramovich's legal team - days after the Government issued the oligarch an ultimatum

@mrjamesob.bsky.social one for you to highlight as the rest of the MSM ignoring this story.
The Tories’ Shadow Attorney General, Lord Wolfson, is representing Roman Abramovich in a legal case that is delaying the transfer of £2.5bn of assets to benefit the people of Ukraine.

I’ve written to Kemi Badenoch about the conflicts of interest this raises. 👇

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Good morning James, long time listener never caller here. Might be interesting to look at channel crossing numbers this morning. They seem to have collapsed but no one is talking about it. I wonder why?

@orwellprize.bsky.social why on earth is Gove one of your judges? Are you ok? Conspiracy or cockup?
I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities.

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

@mrjamesob.bsky.social topic for next week?
This is THE Black Hole!!
Newmarket MP Matt Hancock gave a £37bn Covid testing contract to Jockey Club director Dido Harding, who subcontracted it to Grand National sponsor Randox, employer of Tory MP Owen Paterson, whose late wife chaired Aintree racecourse. That's how the Tories handled the pandemic.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social oh my word listening on catch-up! I've had 2 fights with 🐕s. Finger in bottom definitely doesn't work, opening jaw doesn't work, neither does kicking. Thumbs in eyes pressing down into sockets & choking at same time only thing that works (unless bucket of cold water at hand).

@alastaircampbell2.bsky.social many trees are being strangled by ivy. I do my bit by taking ivy off the oaks I go by when I'm walking in the countryside. We need someone like you to highlight this and start a campaign. Would you?

What can be done? Lisa Nandy needs to sort this RW bias out. But they're not even on 🔵 sky. They're still using X which is actively working against them. Someone needs to have a word.

So why does the BBC label the academic and economist Faiza Shaheen an "activist" but refuse to do the same for the former academic, turned anti-migrant activist Matt Goodwin?

Reform lost by 11% in Caerphilly - because of a surge in turnout, because Reform looked set to win the seat.

This illustrates Reform's vulnerability *because* they are leading the polls (in a 6 party system) while being an *unpopular* party. A much bigger problem under FPTP 2029 than PR 2026

So @thenerve.news doing essential work about spying/foreign influence in UK politics here - but why no wider focus as there is with the Chinese spy story? Is it because this time it involves Reform UK? Curious.
NEW: Police knew a Kremlin spy ring recruited former leader of Reform Wales at least 3 years ago.

So why was Nathan Gill not charged till Feb this year?

Pls read part 2 of @thenerve.news special investigation into Nathan Gill. And please share!
