For all the concerns the conservatives express about schools "indoctrinating" kids with pro-gay propaganda, the actual books in this case are extremely vanilla children's books that happen to have LGBTQ characters. They are only objectionable if you find the *existence of gay people* objectionable.
I'm listening to argument in Mahmoud v. Taylor, the conservative Christian attack on books with LGBTQ characters in elementary schools, and it is impossible to overstate how contemptuous Sam Alito is of the idea of treating LGBTQ people with respect. He is a rank homophobe. Nancy Mace in a robe.
