This was an interview I've long wanted to hear, and the CEO of LexisNexis . . . did not seem prepared for it? Seemed as if he genuinely hadn't grappled with most of the basic questions @reckless.bsky.social put to him.
Just me getting the CEO of LexisNexis to ask his new AI research tool about birthright citizenship. Decoder! www.theverge.com/podcast/8071...

I'm mostly familiar with Peter David through his STAR TREK work. His novels were the ultimate fan fiction, weaving scattered bits of Trek trivia into delightfully new forms while peppering self-aware winks at the audience -- long before BUFFY or SCREAM. He is a most definite influence on my writing.
Peter David's wife is reporting that he passed away last night.

A versatile writer of comics and prose who adapted well to many characters, he had been having severe health issues for a while.

I am glad that he was around, and wish the best to those who knew him.

Man, R.I.P.

David's run on X-Factor shaped my tastes in comics (and media) by showing that you could take characters whose existence usually amounted to "guy punches other guy, hardest punch wins" and give them more grounded human motivations beyond the surface-level stuff of other books

RIP to Peter David, my first favorite author. When I was little, I would listen to his novel Imzadi on repeat. I could tell even as a kid his talent was exceptional. I told him he inspired me to be a writer at my first SDCC, and he was very funny and humble. Thanks for everything, PADGuy (IFYKYK)

Beyond his impressive run in the #StarTrek comics world, Peter David authored of some of the most memorable #StarTrek tie-in novels — the legendary IMZADI, the extraordinary Q-SQUARED, plus VENDETTA, Q-IN-LAW, and the entire NEW FRONTIER series.

A great loss - RIP indeed.

Peter David's Joe Fixit run on Incredible Hulk was a character redefining run of incredible writing. Flipped the narrative to "What if puny Banner was the problem and Hulk was the one with his shit together?" A brilliant writer and colossal talent. Excelsior, sir.
Official confirmation from his family that Peter David has passed away after a long illness. Tremendous writer, incredible talent. Sending my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Terrific and under seen film. Featuring RDJ in a supporting role 🍿 @robertking.bsky.social
I just rewatched the Ian McKellen retelling of Richard III, and it’s quite good. It’s also a bit scary heading into the unknown of our next administration. Machiavelli reigns supreme here, and even though it uses the iconography of Naziism, it’s about how norms get supplanted by conscienceless will

Big news on the Bond front. I have no idea what this means for the future of the franchise. Fans are certainly shaken and not stirred. My thanks go to Barbara and Michael (and Cubby and Harry) for keeping the quality control of the films very high. It was quite the run.
