3pm: food cooked, eaten, and dishes cleaned, leftovers put away, and naptime commencing.

Happy fourth Thursday of November to all. Where I am, that means it’s Thanksgiving. I was taught to name your blessing—count them one by one, in fact.

So I am thankful for my family, that my children are happy and healthy. I’m thankful for my wife and our funny but mature marriage. 1/n…

Hello all! I decided to celebrate Thanksgiving a bit early by dressing up as my 4th favorite side: cranberry sauce.

I know there has already been a lot of spirited pie commentary, but I just had a bite of my wife’s fresh apple pie, piping hot out of the oven. You won’t convince me there’s a better dessert. And I love chocolate chip cookies, but this pie is phenomenal!

This is my kind of good trouble.
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

For the first time in 11 months, I got back on the treadmill to start exercising again. This, after having run 1000 mi (1609 km) in 2024. It’s so much harder to rebuild good habits after losing them.

I don’t feel bad to trick my kids into exercising by making wagers I know I’ll lose: who can do the most sit-ups, who can hold the plank longer, etc?

New from me: I talked to CDC staffers about the new vaccines and autism page. They said things like:

“The best way I can put it is it feels like we’re on a hijacked airplane.”

“I think people are starting to see that we can’t fulfill our mission here.”

Cool if reproducible!
Fascinating. A gut bacteria (Aeromonas variant) makes a toxin called aerolysin that kills gut macrophages and increases inflammation in Ulcerative Colitis.

Anti-aerolysin antibodies stopped the colitis in mice. Wow!

Could this be a new treatment for UC?
