Interestingly I found this action to be a real beautiful example of solidarity across orgs, movements and causes. Too often things are structured in ways that keep us fighting for “our issue” in silos, but all our fates are intertwined. Always have been, but now could not be more obvious.

Look I get that it's not sexy that the Florida facility was closed via an environmental lawsuit but Al Capone got taken down by tax evasion. Not everything is sexy!

been dealing with some brain fog more lately and as someone with a parent with early onset dementia I can't determine if this is just HOW IT STARTS or if its my mind reacting to everything being too much right now.

I went to a conference in Portland a couple years ago and got a similar response from FL fox-viewing step sister: (worried, serious) “omg what was it like?” Me (breezy, oblivious) “oh Portland rules, the food was so good. Loved just walking around!” She looked genuinely baffled and disconcerted.

One of the things that sucks about this era is having to think about the racists all the time, because they’re so boring. They have like, three tools in their toolkit, so we get to say things like “oh look, they’re using the hammer again”

Say it often, say it loud:

"Overall, research has not supported the common-sense presumption that digital approaches to schooling are better than non-digital alternatives. At the broadest level, widespread computer use in education has been found to be associated with lower student achievement."

my daughter really captured my essence in this portrait of me “at work”
a bald stick figure in a chair with his arms out in front like he’s typing on a keyboard, and he’s got the biggest angry frown imaginable and eyebrows that express frustrated bemusement

this is a very cool story but also part of a wider and incredible resurgence of the Eurasian beaver, which dropped to approximately 1,200 survivors in the early 20th century and is now up to 1.5 million. Beavers were reintroduced to the UK this March.

imagine if a family of beavers randomly showed up right now and finished whatever thing you've been putting off
In early 2025, beaver activity in the Brdy Protected Landscape Area, Czech Republic, contributed to the restoration of a wetland ecosystem. A family of beavers constructed a series of dams that coincidentally accomplished environmental goals of the Czech government, which had delayed its proposed project since 2018 for bureaucratic and financial reasons. The beaver-built dams saved the Czech government approximately US$1.2 million,

It should be needless to say, but it is perhaps at this moment worth saying, that transgender individuals have the same right as anyone else to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
