Kids like Mr. Creosote in “the Meaning of Life”
Reward him.

No, I'm serious.

Reward him.

With all the McDonald's he can eat in one go. A vast, comprehensive feast dripping with fat and cholesterol.

Have him keep score to reinforce his manly virility.

Let him feast to glorious excess and enjoy his well-deserved reward.

There is always one book I receive for Christmas that I must read and leave for everyone else to read when I fly back to the states. Last year it was Alice Robert’s wonderful “Crypt” and this year the ever so funny funny “Isabelle Hagg and the Pot of Basil”

And here’s another conundrum. A grad student on the job market could do a hotel room interview without paying the heavy AHA fees. When they created the cattle pen system in the conference hotel you had to pay to get in. How much was safety and how much $$$

I turned down a campus visit because the three old white male professors in the hotel room took the three chairs and left me sitting on the unmade bed. At least the chair was appalled when I told him why I had no desire to visit this prestigious university

Just wanted to let you know that Ruth Kersey passed this afternoon. Just last week she told me how happy she was that you accepted the prints, and how much she loved your write up about Harry. Four years to the day after Harry’s death.

Three from the same litter, eat the same, play the same - 8, 10 and 16 pounds.
I don’t understand how I can feed my cats the same & one is tiny & skinny & the other keeps getting stuck in a hole in the couch.

As we approach All Souls Day when in many countries, people remember their loved ones who have died, the lovely story of a small Yorkshire community who many years ago came together to ensure that everyone could be buried with dignity. The story of the Farndale Hearse. Please enlarge the image.

Today is the anniversary of the song. So go get your peanuts and popcorn and join them.
I'm not sure why a group of little kids is standing on the corner near my house singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," but it's unexpectedly cute.

Love working in their collection. The absolutely nicest archivists.
#OTD in 1911, the new Mitchell Library building, on North Street, was opened by Lord Rosebery.

I always allow students to bring emergency kids and pets to class. If I know I walk in with colored pencils and lots of paper and ask them to draw the lesson. With babies and pets other students are quick to take over hugging duties and no lesson time is missed. People focus more.

There is so much candy in my neighborhood I gave it up a couple of years ago. Now pick up toys on sale. This year tiny tubs of slime and play dough, small plastic sharks and dinosaurs, and little cars. And glow sticks to put on kids on dark street. Most popular stop in the neighborhood.
Halloween candy is so expensive I'll be handing out One Musketeer, A Reeses Piece, and Nerd
