This obsession is with “young men turning to the right” is everything that is wrong with the discussion about the far right.

It is not just an inadequate read of what is happening, and a bias towards the male norm, but it also normalizes the far right and obscures support for inclusive politics. 🧵

A reminder that Hypatia publishes translations of important pieces of feminist philosophy from other languages into English, up to the usual word-limit of 10k. Can be a paper or a book chapter, and it's the would-be translator that makes the submission. Scroll down to 'Feminism in translation':

My review of Judith Butler's latest book is out in Contemporary Sociology!

"Who's Afraid of Gender" is a must read for all, especially those on the fence about the attacks on trans folks/allies.

Women are PIs on 58% of the canceled grants, although they are PIs on only 34% of all active NSF grants.

Similarly, Blacks are PIs on 17% of the terminated grants, although they make only 4% of the total pool. 2/3

Another scoop from Jeff Mervis (@policyhound.bsky.social): NSF's ~1400 grant terminations have disproportionately affected PIs from groups underrepresented in science: women, racial & ethnic minorities, & those with disabilities. 1/3

New article in @politicsgenderj.bsky.social with @drorlysiow.bsky.social. We analyze how intersectionality has been used in gender and politics research, and explore how can it be used in ways more closely aligned with Black feminist theory.

📣 Out on #FirstView 📣

For our upcoming anniversary issue, @drashleec.bsky.social & @drorlysiow.bsky.social‬ examine how intersectionality has been used within P&G and outline ways that future contributions can embrace the original Black feminist intentions of the concept.

Research article "From Inclusion to Transformation: Politics & Gender as a Critical Actor for Intersectional Political Science" by Ashlee Christoffersen & Orly Siow.
Abstract begins: The popularization of intersectionality within political science, feminist scholarship, and activism has constituted nothing less than a paradigm shift (Hancock 2007a). Politics & Gender has been a critical actor in enabling change within our discipline. However, this development has been hard won and there remains much to be done to operationalize intersectionality in line with Black feminist theory, and to center women of color and other intersectionally marginalized groups within scholarship. This article both traces the evolution of intersectional approaches within Politics & Gender over two decades and articulates pathways for future gender and politics research which aims to employ intersectionality.
