The problem is these people view poverty as a moral failing (and wealth as a virtue) and people with poor character don't deserve to be happy.

“realizing that disease isn't the fault of the sick /or/ the fault of the Gods ushered in a new future where we felt the authority to care for each other.”
The new Neil Halloran documentary on Smallpox has completely changed how I see the RFK Jr. version of the world. Neil (softly) argues that realizing that disease isn't the fault of the sick /or/ the fault of the Gods ushered in a new future where we felt the authority to care for each other.

Per Puck’s Leigh Ann Caldwell, Spartz flipped on the budget vote after Trump screamed at her:

“others could clearly hear the president’s voice screaming out of the speaker. She was a fake Republican derailing his agenda, he yelled. He was the president, he reminded her.”

If you have any doubts about climate change, just look at your homeowners insurance. If there’s a way to insure a home and mitigate their exposure, insurance companies would be writing policies not non-renewing 🤑
Powell’s comment just now — “If you fast forward 10 or 15 years, they're going to be regions of the country where you can't get a mortgage ..” — echoes that recent NYT piece on insurance non-renewal rates.
