🧊Our researchers have just finished analysing ancient Antarctic ice spanning 1.2 million years of climate history!

The Beyond EPICA project extends the ice core climate record by 400,000 years, helping us to understand long-term climate patterns and improve future predictions.

Over the last six weeks, SEES scientists Mengwen, Patrick, Helen & Andrea jointed the Beyond EPICA – Oldest Ice project, which aims to analyse the oldest ice on Earth – up to 1.5 million years old, beyond the 800,000 years previously covered – to understand more about Earth's climate 🧊🧪🥼 @bas.ac.uk

Hello from Cambridge!

We've just finished our Climate Modelling Summer School. It is an exciting two-week programme of lectures and practical work on climate models.

Thank you to everyone who came along to learn and network with our experts and with like-minded peers!

We had a fantastic research 'away day' at East Sands in St Andrews, where we discussed the future of extreme temperatures as part of GLOBAL-EX project. A lunchtime swim + cheese toasties on the beach was an added bonus! @erc.europa.eu @ukri.org @earthscista.bsky.social @uniofstandrews.bsky.social

A real honor to be able to help out with this. An absolute gutter ball that it is required.

Kudos to @andrewdessler.com for exemplary leadership, @bobkopp.net for helping pull it together, and to all coauthors for resisting in our own way.

🎉 Big news! Dr Hana Jurikova has won a €2.5 million @erc.europa.eu Starting Grant for CarbonDIOs – a groundbreaking project to reconstruct 500 million years of Earth's atmospheric CO2 & ocean pH. Well done Hana! This also marks our School's 5th ERC grant in 10 years! 🌍🔬🧪

Welcoming anyone willing to fact check me on this — ironically, I don’t want to get it wrong.

Made up quotes in the DOE CWG report?

In Ch8, authors claim to quote IPCC AR5 and AR6 summary statements suggesting difficulty attributing climate change due to decadal variability.

I suspected out-of-context, but I can't find the quotes (or anything like them) *at all*.

Anyone know any better?
