What's happening in South Korea has a direct bearing on what could happen in the U.S. Trump and the people around him have speculated about this kind of thing on multiple occasions. Success or failure in Seoul will send a message to Mar-a-Lago whether it's possible to try it here.
I am sorry to be hijacking the crisis in South Korea by adopting a US perspective, but people are really sleeping on the risks of a much more politicized military that Trump has promised, and which he is empowered to create.
