Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Trump says we need to go after drug cartels.

Meanwhile, he disbanded a DOJ task force that took them on.

And he pardoned a former Honduran president convicted of drug trafficking.

Trump doesn't care about drugs — he wants to be able to declare war on anyone he labels an enemy.

It's a power grab.

The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.

Sorry, guys. We’ll get back to you.

That’s the message the European Union is expected to deliver at a pivotal climate summit of world leaders next week after the bloc’s countries were unable to agree on a plan to reduce planet-warming emissions by 2035.
EU set to miss UN deadline for new target under Paris climate accord
The delay is intended to allow countries more time to agree to an ambitious goal.

Even if you don't care about human suffering, it is bad strategy to arm yourself against Russia with Israeli weapons. A brief explanation follows in the thread.

Unfortunately, #Finland did so. Which is one reason our government is so shamefully reluctant to criticize Israel's behavior.

While no one disputes that Europe needs to do more for its defence, the focus on defence spending percentage of GDP won’t get us there. Indeed, making Europeans commit to an arbitrary spending target is the best way to keep Europe from reaching strategic autonomy.

Spending 5 per cent on defence doesn’t make Nato stronger
An arbitrary target won’t enhance members’ capabilities or co-ordination and encourages creative accounting
