Venezuela ships this blend because it has to mix their main crude oil reserve, from the Orinoco belt (which is EXTREMELY heavy, gravity 8° or so) with lighter crude from elsewhere for it to be shippable.

And that’s the problem with Venezuela’s oil reserves: they’re basically sludge.

Hypocrites
Trump, Vance, Colby, and other idiots in charge will tell you that the US can’t sell crucial missiles like Tomahawks to Ukraine because it needs them for China, while using them on some of the most pointless operations in the world, like those in Nigeria and Venezuela

Countries Trump Has Threatened With Additional Illegal Aggression in the Last 24 Hours

🇻🇪 Venezuela
🇮🇷 Iran
🇲🇽 Mexico
🇨🇴 Colombia
🇨🇺 Cuba

He’s out of control. He’s deranged. This is the opposite of what he promised America when he ran for president. He said he’d focus on *us*.

I am once again asking why Stephen Miller is a principal on foreign policy issues. He was at the meeting with Ukraine and Israel. His official title is Homeland Security Advisor, but appears to have a hand in any policy domain he wants.

And there ya have it…

Officials from top Wall Street firms will be traveling to Venezuela to investigate “investment prospects” of the country. “The trip will feature about 20 officials from the finance, energy and defense sectors.”

That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers.

Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they?

This is a good statement -- bc it gets you where you need to be wrt the OTHER constitutional issues (not least bc THIS SCOTUS would not rule against Trump but Gorsuch IS on recent record that Congress can't hand off its war-declaring power to POTUS.
Statement from Cato VP Clark Neily: Courts probably won't rule against the rendition. Yet Trump has chosen to bypass the constitutional provisions designed to cabin the president's powers in using force against other countries. And an indictment does not supply him with those powers.

Mark Kelly puts out a statement saying "The President of the United States just overthrew a foreign ruler and explained to the American people that this is about taking control of the oil reserves of a foreign nation." This is probably the strongest statement alongside Gallego's I've read.

I can't blame a 23 year old for not standing up to illegal orders that passed through dozens of other hands before they got to him. He knows who would get the shit end of that stick and it damn sure ain't his boss or his boss's boss's boss.
One of my followers who is a military mom has a 23 year old kid who was a part of the raid and kidnapping in Venezuela.

She says that the pressure on the kids to carry out orders that they knew were wrong was overwhelming.

This war and extra-judicial kidnapping is patently illegal and unconstitutional. Political leaders on both sides must condemn it. It’s not about whether Maduro is a tyrant but whether the US is still governed by laws and the Constitution. As if this morning, we are clearly not.

Next time you look at your greatly increased monthly bill for healthcare, remember that Republicans chose to use the money set aside for supplements to defray your costs to, instead, invade Venezuela to make ExxonMobil even richer.

Thank them with your votes.

Obsessing over Congressional approval in this moment is a category error.

Trump invaded Venezuela, kidnapped its president, and bombed families to seize control of the country for his billionaire buddies.

The MAGA regime isn’t breaking the rules. It’s teaching people that rules no longer apply.

While Americans struggle with high prices and rising healthcare costs, Trump is focused on running Venezuela instead.

Not very America First…
Q: Who will run Venezuela?

Trump: "It's largely going to be for a period of time the people that are standing right behind me. We're going to be running it."

Behind Trump is Marco Rubio, General Cain, Pete Hegseth, Stephen Miller, and John Ratcliffe.

"Trump has not even a fig leaf of legal authority for his attacks on Venezuela."

Yep. That this is illegal is the point.

As with January 6, his sexual assaults, his frauds, and every other crime, the point is to demonstrate that he is above the law.
