Great work by my friend @kenjenkinsny.bsky.social. More public officials should stand up the way Ken has in Westchester.

Americans fought a revolution to break free from a king who trampled on our liberties. The indictment of Attorney General Tish James just 2 weeks after he demanded it, shows that Trump has seized the power to order the prosecution of anyone he wants, a power even King George III never had.

Shame on ABC, and seriously, if you're not appalled by this, please ask yourself if you really want to live in a country where media figures can be forced off the air by the government, because to me that sounds much more like Soviet Russia than any kind of America I've ever known.

In a sane world this would prompt articles of impeachment against RFK Jr.
Sen. Bill Cassidy: HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. expected you to change the childhood vaccine schedule, despite a lack of science or data to support that move?

Former CDC Director Susan Monarez: "Correct."

it really is interesting that they recognize it isn't politically possible to claim the US as a specifically anglo-saxon country and thus have to retroactively include groups of european immigrants — seen, at the time, as interlopers — as "white" people entitled to the same claim on national origins

Quick 🧵. Last night I hit a milestone here; 100,000 followers. This is a humbling moment for me and I want to express my gratitude to those who have followed me and who find my commentary worthwhile. I genuinely appreciate all the kind words people have shared over the years; it is noticed.

Firing government officials who give him bad news isn’t exactly helping Trump beat the accusation that he wants to be king.

It’s absolutely impossible to think this is the result of good faith legal analysis, especially when they refuse to provide any reasons!
According to this Supreme Court, President Biden's Department of Education was exceeding its power by trying to forgive peoples' student loans.

President Trump, on the other hand, has the power to just completely dismantle the entire Education Department.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court allows the Trump administration to move forward with the abolition of the Department of Education. It gives no explanation for its order. All three liberals dissent. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

I'm jealous of people born after 2008, who do not think "oh man imagine if Michelle Obama said this" every time one of these quotes shoots out.

The youth will never understand how furious Fox et al were at the First lady having a healthy food initiative.
RFK Jr: "This administration wants to encourage Americans to take control of their health -- to eat right, to have lifestyle changes that save us all. And that's the patriotic thing to do, not only for our country but for every individual American. It's a patriotic duty to keep ourselves healthy."

I’m going to say this again

The president is taxing American consumers to try to do a favor for one of his political allies
As usual, I think Brian is right about Brazil. Its economy isn’t very reliant on exports to the US, its judiciary operates quite independently of politics and Lula will be eager to stand up to a foreign bully. Brazil already trades more with China than with the US; tariffs deepen that relationship.

If Texas was a Democratic state, does anyone doubt that Trump would be blaming the Governor for the devastating flash flooding?

Just listened to this and the point struck me as a) obvious and b) somehow, completely overlooked. All those able bodied young men playing video games on their mom’s basement, enjoying that sweet free… chemotherapy?
Excellent framing by @mattyglesias.bsky.social: "Medicaid savings" = denied medical care

Doocy: With Alliagator Alcatraz, is the idea that if some illegal immigrant escapes, they just get eaten by an alligator?

Trump: I guess that’s the concept. Snakes are fast but alligators— we’re going to teach them how to run away from an alligator. Don’t run in a straight line,

Today on Juneteenth, I attended the rededication of the Bench by the Road in Nyack’s Memorial Park. Originally dedicated by the late Toni Morrison in 2015, the bench honors Cynthia Hesdra, a pioneering figure in Rockland’s Black history.

I hope, if nothing else, what's going on in LA will remind the nation's young people that true rebelliousness is not saying slurs that HR told you not to say, it's fighting fascists who are using state power to suppress speech & impose violence on marginalized groups.

Apparently the people running our government are more worried about a flock of Canadian ostriches with bird flu getting euthanized than the hundreds of thousands of people in Africa dying of preventable diseases and starvation because Elon Musk illegally cut funding for food aid and medicine.

This guy stole $10 million from the employees of his nursing home to buy himself a luxury yacht and Cartier watches. He PLED GUILTY.

And because his Mom gave Trump $1 million, he just got a pardon.

I’m sorry this is literally deranged. What does this even mean?!
Reporter: What are you hoping to achieve with a 50% tariff on the E.U.?

Trump: There is no tariff. What they will do is they will send their companies into the US

Reporter: Are you looking for a deal in 9 days?

Trump: I’m not looking for a deal. We’ve set the deal at 50%

Every antisemite in history has had a story about why THEIR anti-Jewish abuse and violence was justified. If you're doing this today, you're not special and you haven't landed on the one clever case where antisemitism is good; you're just another in a long line of bad people justifying bad things.
you can claim that you're 'anti-Israel not anti-semitic' all you want but if you're out there justifying terrorism aimed at Jewish events, you're an anti-semite.
