This has nothing to do with crime. This is an attempt to crush political dissent.

Never before, in our entire 250 year history, has the military or immigration agents been used like this. It's dystopian, illegal, and it should stop.

So cool that whenever someone asks the president, “did you eat the Lindbergh baby” he’s like, “no but I’d be allowed to, I have the right to, I might do it later”

I have taken
the freedom of speech
that was in
the Constitution

and which
you were probably
using
for peaceful protest

Forgive me
the courts said they were
so agitating
and so irritating

Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."

Bondi claiming they arrested [checks notes] "the girlfriend of one of the founders of antifa" has me in stitches
atrupar.com
Bondi: "Bondi: "Just like we did with cartels, we are going to take the same approach, President Trump, with antifa -- destroy the entire organization from top to bottom. We are going to take them apart."

A window into how policy is made in this White House
atrupar.com
Q: Are you going to work with your administration to designate antifa a foreign terror organization?

TRUMP: You mean anti-terror?

Q: Antifa

TRUMP: Antifa?

Q: A foreign terror organization

TRUMP: Would you like to see it done? I'd be glad to do it. Does everybody agree? It sounds good to me

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

One of the basic points in my new Dispatch piece on the right to record immigration raids and raiders is that ICE agents are already informally “enforcing” their disapproval of at-the-scene recording by roughing up journalists, freelance photographers, and others with cellphone cameras. /1

My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."

I am also very curious, seeing as I live here. I should clarify, I will have the data at some point, just not today.

(Over in the Post 1 race, Matt Rinker claims to have raised and spent $0, which I also strongly doubt)
elium2.com
I get why this sort of thing can be tempting, but if you're not done with the report in time, you should pay the late fee. There's some allowance for fixing genuine errors, but not for attempting to dodge enforcement.
elium2.com
Good catch here – this does not past the smell test and is likely an attempt to avoid a late fee despite not finishing the report in time to file.

White seems to have claimed that all $25k spent was in non itemized expenditures less than $100. This seems dubious to me. Have you ever seen this from a campaign before?

And yes, if you check the timestamp, I noticed *before* the amendment.

So I would watch for an amendment from White where it turns out actually he was supposed to itemize most of it. Oopsie!

Going to cover a couple other mayoral races now. I'll probably come back to cover South Fulton council races.
elium2.com
The Q3 data in South Fulton backs up my gut instinct here, which is that Gumbs and Edwards are the leading candidates, with the incumbent as a major wild card. But we're missing data on four candidates (including the incumbent)!
elium2.com
South Fulton Mayor Q3, actual data!

Carmalitha Gumbs: $57.1K raised; $65.4K spent
Bill Edwards: $14.8K raised; $33.0K spent

Mark Baker: $3.5K raised (contribution by candidate); $1.4K spent
Kelvin Davis: $7.5K raised; $2.4K spent
Ryan Olson: $4K raised; $3.9K spent

Adeyemi reported raising $26.4K and spending $11.3K in the 06/30 filing. Johnson reported $0, and Mills didn't declare until August, so this filing will be his first.

In South Fulton's mayoral race, incumbent khalid kamau, also known as Kobi, has filed, but it's not uploaded yet. He closed his old campaign account in May.
No filings are yet available for Joseph Adeyemi, Jewel Johnson, or Ray Mills. Only Adeyemi previously reported any activity.

That concludes Atlanta for now. I don't have enough filings for Sandy Springs to cover it, either.

Atlanta BoE at large Post 8 (open):
Kaycee Brock: $38.5K raised; $36.9K spent; $2K in kind.
Royce Mann: $29.6K raised; $19.5K spent.
Aisha Stith: $10.0K raised; $4.1K spent.

No rating here yet.

The Atlanta BoE D6 race is worth keeping an eye on for an upset. Both of the city council seats (D11 and D12) in this school board district are hotly contested as well, so turnout should be decent.

Obviously candidates bear *some* responsibility as well, but there is no real incentive to be diligent about this stuff when the government seems not to care.
