Breakfast tea, horses and Ireland - I wrote an essay on that trio in hopes that others can get lost in the world they create, too. Tastes can be time machines. Tea always takes me back to that simpler time. It's a free read on Vocal ☕ #writingcommunity #amwriting #reading

The portal out of the barn. Walking through it always reminds me of those first few seconds of Space Mountain at Disney.. to infinity and beyond.. to the manure pile lol 🪐

A fresh coat of nailpolish, Kentucky's soft new blanket of snow; slinging a rug on my horse's back, as ice covers trough's waters below.
Lasagna's layers. Electric blanket. Wine over myelin flow.

Things That Cover: this week's theme, it seems.

Hey Dad: Little Socks, a grown stallion, crosses the sagebrush sea to check on Old Socks. Range life is hard & after a leg injury, Old Socks stopped challenging other stallions for mares. He's on his own, but not alone because of his boy. Cheryl Broumley image #Fatherhood #Family #wildhorses #horses

A shot from the last snow storm. Kentucky has another one coming through tonight.

The horses won't be happy about being in for the night, though. If only they knew it'll be that nasty, icy slush snow and not the pretty stuff as in photo.

As if the universe needed to send me another animal..
Taking care of this baby until we can find (hopefully 🤞) her owners.
She showed up on the farm this morning and wanted to stay.

Her blue eye reminds me of this quote:
"Blue has no dimensions; it is beyond dimensions." - Yves Klein

If you've ever been up close to a horse's eye, you know it is like looking beyond dimensions.

This week from the overstimulated world of a writer... Simplicity. And irony, I guess.

My push against the gloomy-gloom of whatevs the hell 2025 is bringing is always to surround myself with art I love- to engage only with things that make me feel like "me".

Feeling right ripples outwards to others, usually.
That's the biggest push against evil I can consistently control.
it’s a new morning

time to figure out a few ways to push against evil for today

(don’t provide details here but let’s do the work

—small gestures and actions count too, by the way )
if they are trying to make us hopeless I think it’s working

the whole thing is so devastating and I’m out of positive energy for the day

I’ll start over tomorrow

No bees, NO FOOD!!
We must protect our bee poulations!!
The New UK govt appears to be going through the painfully boring but necessary steps to 100% outright ban these horrendous bee and other pollinator murdering neo-nicotinoid pesticides. I can't say I know 4 sure but I suspect the intent is to make it very difficult to avoid or lift the ban in future.
UK Government outlines complete ban on insect-killing pesticides
A complete ban on the use of bee-killing neonicotinoid pesticides in the UK has moved a step closer. The UK Government set out its plans in late December to deliver on a key election pledge. Despite b...

Internet was down, out here in the sticks. I rely on it too much. My jams are online. When I write, I listen to music. No internet = no music = not-the-same writing.

Turned Skyrim on in the living room. Wrote to the soundtrack as my Nord idled in the woods. Writing day saved and hack discovered.

i am not claiming it would fix everything, but i don’t think it would hurt for every angsty zoomer and millennial and x-er who spends 16 hours a day being Mad Online to pick up an instrument and learn to play it just badly enough to play along with other angsty zoomers and millennials and x-ers
