The world is going mad, and so are existing media outlets such as the BBC and USA equivalents. We live in a strange and scary world. Just drink and forget the shit.

The Ice Bucket Challenge, which took over social media a decade ago, has found new life thanks to a group of college students who copied the concept, in its entirety, to spread mental health awareness. Here’s what you need to know.
The Ice Bucket Challenge Worked. Why Not Try It Again?
The trend that dominated social media a decade ago — and raised millions for A.L.S. research — has been reborn as a vehicle to raise mental health awareness.

It would be more fun if we could have a wheel of fortune or lottery ball style show to discover what the global trade regime looked like every day. Put some showmanship into it.

Also - at least in gentrified urba areas - there's a new proliferation of good bakers, butchers, fishmongers, grocers... which makes buying really good fresh ingredients so much easier.
british supermarkets are straightforwardly superior to US ones in price, range and quality and have been for years; this is a complete reversal from my childhood.
This is the one time I will defend the British over anything, ever, but I feel like British food gets a bad rap. I grew up hearing it was sort of stereotypically bad but when I think of what I’d eat in England it would Fish & Chips and Curries and those are basically two of the best things ever

Martin Ødegaard has singlehandedly destroyed Isreal tonight.

The Norwegian captain has three assists, eight key passes and won man of the match.

I wouldn’t want anyone else to be our club captain.

Was just reminded by the responses to this of a conversation I once had with a very nice Ivy-League educated American in the Metropolitan Club in DC (long story), who told me that New York was annoying and tedious "because it is all about showing off by having a European at your dinner party”.
Serious question: Can somebody explain to me why the Signal boys loathe Europe so much? Exasperation with longstanding European refusal to spend more on defence really is not enough to explain this degree of hostility. What’s so bad about Europe? Too snobby? An obstacle to their libertarian dreams?

Good idea !
I have one day a week when I turn my phone off, get on a train to some random place, and spend an afternoon exploring the local pubs. I've found some gems and some turds. I heartily recommend doing this.
