Hitler was not some kind of evil genius, people. He was famously pretty fucking stupid and made some spectacularly poor decisions, which none of his people were willing to call out, because they knew what he did to people he found inconvenient. Asthetics over morality is 100% the shtick of fascism.
Just to clarify:
1. Fascists are not smart
2. Fascists do not have to be smart to do harm via fascism
3. Fascism works in part through aesthetics
4. The administration is being run by fascists who are doing fascism
5. Their unpopularity/fuck ups should not lead us to think 2-4 are not true

I have people I love dearly in Tennessee and I go there nearly every year to visit. I'm polite, I tip well, I spend a good chunk of money on nonsense and fast food. Not this year. Not for years to come if things don't improve. It's not just queer people at risk, nobody should be flying into the US.
