Wii Sports Tennis — repeated topspin backhands and my shoulder don’t get along. I couldn’t throw stuff overhand for about a year — presumably a labrum tear, but I wasn’t insured very well back then
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

😅

Fun fact: I'm also from NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE! (Underrated and related Gus game: Vanderbilt over NC State, 2004 NCAA men's tournament.)

A spin art frisbee signed by Mike Eruzione (USA hockey captain, 1980 Olympics). My dad’s friend recognized him at the 1982 World’s Fair and the frisbee I had made earlier that day was all I had for him to sign.
What is the most "obscure" piece of sports memorabilia that you own? Why do you have it?

Nick Castellanos is 4-for-8 with four home runs against Bryce Elder, who is on the bump for the Braves tonight.

In case anyone is wondering.
Happy Labor Day weekend!

#ThisWeeksFiddler: counting by hand, then counting correctly by computer. More implicit Julia evangelism, too!

I joined Bluesky exactly two years ago and I wrote a piece about my thoughts on the platform - how it's been coming along so far and where it seems fated to go. Thanks for reading.

Belated #thisweeksfiddler: 1 billion lines into 5^12 chunks of a unit square. Suspiciously close to 8:4:3 center to corner to middle of edge ratios; to be exact, I got 128,461 to 64,245 to 48,053. Code slapped here with basically no comments: colab.research.google.com/drive/1-0K6n...

just so we’re all clear: the reason they keep using dolls as their example is because they’re trying to frame caring about material stuff as feminine and thus inherently shameful
Bessent says that little girls who are sad about having fewer dolls should just have it explained to them that they will have a better life for it

#ThisWeeksFiddler: We didn't have to find the actual hedge layouts to answer the questions, so I didn't! (But then I did anyway because it's fun.)

#ThisWeeksFiddler I think these are real values and not coding and/or floating-point errors. I can sort of rationalize why this data might be right, but this is definitely the weirdest data I've seen in a while. Google Colab (now with Julia!): colab.research.google.com/drive/1k6e8E...

A huge counting problem in #ThisWeeksFiddler Extra Credit that actually finishes in a reasonable amount of time if you don't use recursion! (Although it's a lot easier if you do use it.) Plus, one that's doable by hand in the Fiddler proper!

If you wanted no leaks you should have gone into Settings -> Security -> Configure privacy & security -> Privacy options -> Other -> Configure -> Media interface and clicked “Disallow.”

The Leak setting is on by default but we understand your privacy is important so we’ve made it easy to opt out
