New NYT article detailing new requirements for the COVID-19 vaccine across US. This is all very preliminary information, but I suggest if you live in these states that may require a prescription, you acquire a script from your family doctor asap.
STATES REQUIRING PRESCRIPTIONS FOR COVID-19 VACCINES
CVS
34 states have no set limits, people can simply check a box when they make an appointment online to attest that they meet the FDA criteria, without a prescription or other documentation.
16 states require a prescription: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia and West Virginia, District of Columbia In Massachusetts, Nevada and New Mexico, CVS is not currently able to offer the COVID-19 as of yet.
Walgreens
16 states require a prescription: Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, Washington State, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

If you weren't angry enough already, here are the rates of non-competitive renewals through May.

4008 Non-competitive renewals were due to be funded in May.

The total funded was 99!

Some is due to terminations, but most is due to slow grant making due to DOGE review and other impediments.

The NIH has dropped its research funding by $2.7 billion so far this year.

Cancer research funding has declined 31%.

And new NIH research grants fell to the lowest level in more than a decade.

Eye-opening findings in today's HELP committee minority report:

Excited to share my first paper from my postdoc! In this study, we demonstrate that the mu opioid receptor produces a second wave of G protein activity on endosomes in a manner that doesn’t require receptor internalization. Check it out! www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

While I understand why NCI is adding this, I bothers me that it is another mechanism for the rich to get richer

I did my postdoc (with foundation support) with a starting faculty member who did not yet have substantial NIH funding

It was a great experience (and he was subsequently very successful)
