Creeping through rush hour traffic on an F8 at an agonizingly slow pace. This is bonkers! Anyone else think we should speed up transit by creating more dedicated bus lanes?

Did some leafleting for @emmaewood.bsky.social in Elmwood.

Every time I do leafleting, I am reminded of how hard postal workers work. And I just had the one leaflet to pass out - not stacks of sorted mail.

We've been hoping for a robust, nuanced deep dive on this topic for years. As a co-founder of Safe Speeds Winnipeg, I'd be very glad to talk any time, or to connect you with others, and to share resources & perspectives that may be helpful to your work.

There's a grassroots community of folks in Wpg who care very much about the issue of road safety, and many of us (myself included) are propelled by a desire to prevent other families from the suffering of losing loved ones to traffic-related deaths.

Maggie, thank you for this thread, and for your journalism. I'm also very sorry for your loss.

Took a breather from the fast & furious pace of campaign life this evening to go to a very special book launch at @mcnallyrobinson.com. I laughed, I cried, and was reminded that the world may be on fire, but there are so many of us working to change that. Congratulations to all the poets & editors!

Again thanks to @mmarginet.bsky.social for her @winnipegfreepress.com op ed on the need for funding #publictransportation. We need to invest in #WinnipegTransit from all levels of government to improve our service, then on a moral basis to lower our fares for access to all. #Winnipeg

Thanks to @mmarginet.bsky.social for clarifying some of the misunderstandings of our new transit system and making it clear that "It doesn’t matter what a city says it wants to be, a city’s vision is shown in what it chooses to budget for." t.ly/ixbKX
Opinion: Funding Transit a necessity
While the new Winnipeg Transit network launched in June 2025 has achieved many of its objectives, it’s important to assess what is and isn’t working in order to see Winnipeg Transit reach its full pot...

Public comms on vaccine availability in #Manitoba is definitely lacking this year, but appointments in various pharmacy online platforms are starting to pop up. Some out there for shoppers, too.

Despite no communication about this from public health, Sobeys Transcona has Covid/Flu appointments available as early as Oct. 6th. They’re actually expect the shipment this week and will add earlier appointments when they receive it.

We went to the sacred fire relatives are holding for Kerry and Egor. Fire keepers still need wood, medicine, and donations to support the feast at the end. Sacred fire is at 46 Grove St until 5:55 pm Thursday.

Now confirmed: a driver killed two cyclists with his truck this weekend on Kenaston, right after the bike path runs out south of Sterling Lyon.

My mum made it too! She'd always set some juice aside to freeze, and we'd later have it mixed with gingerale as punch. Soooo good.

I've worked on a couple of Home Grown Grants and it is a GREAT program, with lots of support for applicants!

Applications for planting next year are now open, until November 3rd. www.winnipeg.ca/services-pro...

Speaking of tree-planting grants, I loved seeing the beautiful new grove of 21 trees planted at Valley Gardens Community Centre when I visited today. The planting was made possible by a Home Grown Grant through the City of Winnipeg. valleygardenscc.squarespace.com/blog/valley-...
