"…and now I’m definitely awake again, sitting up in my bunk, and I’m sure it’s Wednesday. For some reason Wednesday is intake day for new prisoners. Not Monday or Friday, which would make more sense to me."

I am a girl in a woman’s body, I am a woman in a girl's body, I am thirteen and three thousand years old. My Mother tells me a story about a princess who was turned to cinders.

Ready for VoidCon this weekend.
I’ll be slinging two zines:

1) The MAKEITSTOP (PLEASE) - a fully illustrated gnostic totally-not-m ů ppets existential nightmare

2) STAMBDM - my liturgical prose poem about the one true religion around here, featuring a bunch of collaged illustrations.

y'all have been giving us a lot to chew on! today is the last day to add to the heap, so if you haven't gotten your submission in, slither on over to your email inbox and do that!
Image id: an image of marbled flesh is overlaid on a group of people standing together. Text over them reads "Fuck being an individual. All my homies contort and slither eternally in the warm of the united flesh."

If you're around Barcelona, come along to us read. This Saturday 5-7pm at Backstory Books (Carrer de Mallorca, 330). Trippy and interactive. And I promise to read at least one poem about the moon.
Image of Barcelona with details of a surreal-absurd reading at Backstory books, featuring Marcus Silcock, Thomas Helm and Hugh Behm-Steinberg.

not to get too sappy on main but the pals i have made in the indie horror community since i joined bluesky a year ago have been such an inspiring and life-affirming reminder of how fucking awesome so many people truly are despite what the world wants you to believe

Looking to submit to a zine that welcomes horror for all its nastiness and also pays 10 cents per word? Look no further.

Open for subs through October 7th: cursedmorsels.com/submission-c...
FLESH Zine
For this submission call, we’re looking for pieces (500 words or fewer) connected to the broad theme of FLESH. This zine will be included for free with Samir Sirk Morató’s Gore Poetics, a Cursed Morsels 2026 release. For context, this book is weird, erotic, grotesque, queer, transgressive, literary, and intense if that gives you a sense for the kinds of work Samir and I (Eric Raglin) are looking for. Your submission can be fiction, poetry, or nonfiction.

Pay is 10 cents per word. We’re asking for first worldwide print and digital publishing rights but no exclusivity period. Contributors will receive five free physical copies of the zine.

The New Weird thrives today in unlabeled and often unrecognized forms. Disco Elysium, Dorohedoro, The Locked Tomb, Dishonored, their well of fucked-up cities and punk necromancers was fed from a distant reservoir of Ford, Gentle, Swanwick, Leiber and Peake

Yeah I’m listening to the new Taylor album. By Taylor I of course mean ambient artist Taylor Deupree, and by album I mean his wonderfully minimalist composition Somi, and by new I mean it came out in 2017.

Unfortunately our peer reviewer who specializes in Paleobotany was out sick this week.

Rest assured, we'll be issuing a full retraction in our next issue.

"Before the dinosaurs, the evil was there. But not before love. To survive, plants evolved to make flowers, so that pollinators would love them, see? Love is flowers. I meditate on the flowers of love and that’s my dream now."

My new album The Life of a Showgirl is out today. Hope everyone likes it. It’s about my life as a performer and entertainer, with a revealing peek behind the curtain. I think you’ll discover it’s not all glamor and sunshine… -CS

first of fifteen pieces on works of “minor horror” that I’ll be posting throughout October went up today, on a largely-forgotten “killer ape” programmer from the early 40s that is actually, against all odds, both aesthetically refined and dramatically compelling. check it out below
Minor Horror #02-1: The Monster and the Girl
This is the first in a series of fifteen pieces on “minor” horror films that I’m going to be publishing here throughout October.

My brave and controversial opinion is that slaughtering people is bad. We live in a death cult but we don’t have to feed into it.
