Back in the day I worked as a consultant for big companies and my job was parachuting in at the last minute for projects someone else fucked up, and I got paid stunningly well because at that point it just needed to be fixed. Now with the advent of "AI" I could do that job again, very profitably.
but it's much more cost and time efficient to fire all the humans, have AI do it, then rehire humans at elevated consultant rates to fix everything the AI did! double the time and 4x the cost, but that is what progress looks like!

yeah there's a lot of "create weird art" and not a lot of "your favorite artist can't balance their shitty dayjob and emergency expenses with creating art" or "your favorite artist is burnt out because they've been doing more commissions than personal art for years"

if you're an artist have the most confidence in the world bc somewhere there is a doofus applying for government funding for nfts
went to a presentation about govt funding and grants for the arts. a guy there had the gall to not only offer unfunny quips and interruptions, but to say "i make nfts" in a room full of artists and "if you have trouble with your application for the grant, use chat gpt"

if you want artists to make weirder art, you have to create stable living conditions that allow them to. homogeneity isn't a matter of artists lacking culture-- there are many soulful artists out there-- it's a matter of unregulated corporate dominance combined with artists who cant afford to create

I’ve seen an artist do “sponsor a personal artwork”. It was 1/4 of the price of a commission and if you pay it they work on a personal project. I actually love this and wish more artists did it.
