One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

Protest, resist, yell, mock, organize.

Dissent and dissent LOUDLY.

We live under a fascist regime, not a successfully totalitarian regime.

These people are not bright and they are not competent.

They will lose.

Here is how we use AI together: I remind them every chance that AI is a marketing term to put a fancy gloss on an autocomplete program that feeds them lies while draining our water supply and hastening climate catastrophe. And it makes everyone who uses it dumber.
Why?
Why should parents and children "use AI together?"
Why not make an ethical choice not to use it together?
Why is the implicit and explicit message always "you must use it, there is no other option"

The nuclear family, as we know it, has always been a political project. It was constructed and reinforced under capitalism to contain care within private households, to naturalize women’s unpaid labor, and to offload the failures of the state onto individuals.

When pundits defend the family form as if it were timeless/sacred, they reveal lack of faith in the ppl’s capacity to create something different, better. They cling to the idea that safety can only exist inside a unit sanctioned by the state, rather than in the solidarities ppl themselves generate.

I know you all love to keep pretending that voting for the “lesser evil” is good, but at some point you’re gonna run out of marginalised people to throw under the bus and that “lesser evil” will be coming for you next.

We can’t defeat fascism in the US without defeating US imperialism abroad. The liberal resistance to Trump must understand the connection between fascism at home and US violence abroad—including support for the genocidal, fascist and extraordinarily belligerent Israeli regime. No kings means no war.

The best way to understand the U.S. right now is as a parliamentary system where the Democrats have joined a coalition government to vote in favor of everything the Republicans want without demanding any concessions for their own constituents.

Just ran my excess death calculations

Those aged 45-75 (i.e. the people who run the world) are the only demographic to not have seen excess deaths above pre-pandemic normal in 2024

In comparison, school aged children saw a rise of 12% in deaths from disease in 2024
