Stones indeed sift to sand, oak blends with saint's bones. Yet for a little longer here stone and oak shelter silence while we ask nothing but silence. Look how clouds dance under the wind's wing, and leaves delight in transience. I recently attended a Quaker meeting (not Brigflatts) for the first time and wanted to record the very interesting experience I had there. Even at my most irreligious, as a young person, I had always held the Quakers in high but vague regard, as peace activists, as contemplatives, and as quite liturgically and theologically sober. Part of what fascinated me was the seeming consistency. I always saw those people taking daring risks for difficult causes. Though my experience was also far from what I might have expected.

apparently a lot of people were unimpressed by the new taylor swift record. I of course have no opinions about that or in fact about anything, but I did think it was pretty impressive that they managed to make the whole thing with ai in only 20 minutes. imagine what they could have done with an hour

Like all men but more so, he was a hunter. In a literal sense, he used not a bullet but a bird. It was not about a chase but about a puzzle of logic and skill that amounted to a test of his self-mastery. He was the mouse and the architect of his maze. The giver of his own pleasure and torment. He desired. He desired desiring. He desired being desired. He desired desire itself. I understood this just as I came to understand the range of his kinks and complexes and how they fit within what I thought I understood of his soul.

I'm sorry but any report that uncritically says assets would be seized "to pay for" costs is just parroting government propaganda. Confiscations are dreamed up as a punitive deterrent, not a sincere attempt at a funding mechanism.

As a child, scriptural condemnations of false teachers, idols, demons, illusory paths to eternal life, had always struck me as the most provincial and historically contingent part of religion, of little value to people as modern and wise and free as I thought we were. Can see now that I was wrong.
