This "Eby goes off the rails" statement is wild

Smith is putting at risk billions of dollars worth of projects that he's been working on

He sounded frustrated to me
& I know how he feels

Smith is, was, and will always be, an embarrassment to Albertans

B.C. NDP premier David Eby goes off the rails, accuses Smith of bringing Trump to Canada via pipeline. An unhinged attack far beyond the earlier pipeline battle. Column. calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu... #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli #yyc #yeg #bcpoli #yyc #yeg
Braid: B.C. premier accuses Smith of bringing Trump to Canada via pipeline

WHAAT?
Those of us who went to university frm social-cultural contexts with zero experience with postgraduate (university or college) studies, who fought family's & community's stigma against PSE, benefitted enormously from the recognition of class issues & special guidance given to 1st gen learners

Proud of my community league (Wîhkwēntōwin) for organizing a forum of municipal candidates, and then posting the recording on Instagram!

Trump’s illegal tariff war (intended to fund tax breaks for the rich) is devastating US farmers, destroying long-term trade relationships between US farmers & buyers.

Now Trump is talking about a “bail out” for farmers (socialism), but is emphasizing agricultural corporations (corporate welfare).

Please tell me that her house arrest includes bans on 1) use of digital & telecommunications 2) ban on fundraising such as GoFundMe 3) forbidden from hosting meetings with other convoy agitators & 4 (now I'm fantasizing): requirement to listen to CBC Ideas, daily; & What on Earth weekly🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

So, in a conversation yesterday with a municipal councillor from a town not far from Edmonton, I was told that "bicycle infrastructure was anti-Albertan because cycling for transportation was anti-oil industry."
I'm still trying to understand such fragility.

You got a deal on a *Brompton* and a green one at that?!

Electric bicycles, and shared electric bicycles in particular, are a revolutionary transportation technology. Forward-looking cities should be building out the infrastructure necessary to make cycling safe and convenient for everyone who wants to do it.

i recently got a great deal on a barely used folding ebike and i have to say it has revolutionized my train travel. i can get from my front door to the amtrak station in a little less than 5 minutes!!!

Inspirational story form @modacitylife.com! Vancouver's transition to a city with a (mostly) AAA bike network took political will, tenacity, good design, & willingness of naysayers to let data change their minds.
#YVR: 10% work commutes by bike;♀️~ 50% of 🚲 trips 🥳

If you’d like to hear a front runner mayoral candidate complain about city administration and colleagues and play victim for an hour, listen to the latest special episode of the usually very entertaining Grose Misconduct podcast.

Please do not vote for Cartmell, folks. Vote for someone with vision.

I signed up to be a canvasser so that people in my building with mobility problems would have an easy way to sign. But then, I've met *so many neighbours* who've come to my door wanting an easy, local, place to sign ❣️🇨🇦! #Abpoli #ForeverCanadian

Today, I’m off on the #ForeverCanadian Unity Bus to Wetaskiwin, Ponoka, Lacombe, Calmar and Leduc.

It is important to me that all Albertans have an opportunity to show their support for Canada by signing the petition.

See you there!!!

Just wait until municipalities start charging rental fees for storage of personal vehicles on our publically owned streets.
🤣
{Not that I've ever heard any candidate propose this. 🤔Maybe Omar Mohammed would, as a way to relieve taxpayers' burden}

Impressive statement. I've never heard of that candidate, but it's a great statement. "Propagandized" = brainwashed, yes?

Not sure how I'll be able to apply his request for compassion to the 49.8% of USAians who voted for Trump, or the 37% to 46% (poll depending, Oct 4'25) who STILL approve of him.

INSTEAD, Cartmell took inspiration from MAGA types, & Doug Ford, & tried to use bike lanes as a political dog whistle; when that wasn't flying, he's switched to infill housing.

(Also: don't forget, density is bad for big greenfield developers' {aka his donors} business model).

End of rant

...bike infrastructure was creating a patchy, inconsistent & therefore unusable routes. Research shows it's cheaper, safer & better enables modal shift, if you build a network quickly, with consistent standards. You'd think an engineer would recognize that...(2/)

Not to belabour that particular interview, but it really irritates me that he's not acknowledging the *years* of 'consultations' that he & previous #yegcc used to stonewall bike infrastructure. We voted most of them *out* specifically because of that. Using Neighborhood renewal to create....(1/)

Yeah we keep saying that we should organize mobs of cyclists to just start dropping in and let him see the value that people on bikes can bring.
