Hormones do a hell of a lot more than hair plugs or shaved legs do. My body is biochemically identical to a cis woman’s, we’re done with this “change gender not sex” garbage. Some trans people don’t hormonally transition, and that’s okay! But many of us do and that reality must be acknowledged

It is 2025. The EHRC in the UK keeps trying to materialize a trans bathroom ban out of a muddled UKSC opinion third-sexing all trans people. A bill to criminalise those who provide trans minors with transition care passed in the US House of Representatives.

And cis "allies" still think this helps.
Conflating gender and biological sex is pseudo-science. Biological males can't become biological females, and vice versa, AND TRANS PEOPLE KNOW THAT. They are performing their preferred GENDER, not changing their SEX. You know, the same way cis men get hair plugs and cis women shave their legs.

PATHA's statement follows: “This is a win for trans young people, their whānau, and the health professionals who care for them. The High Court has recognised the harm this ban will cause, and the significant issues in the decision Cabinet made to restrict access to this life-saving care.”
This morning the High Court of New Zealand granted PATHA’s application for interim relief, declaring that the Crown should not take any steps to enforce the incoming ban on new prescriptions of puberty blockers to transgender children and young people with gender dysphoria or gender incongruence until the Court can hear PATHA’s substantive review. The Court has also directed that review should be heard with all possible urgency. “This is a win for trans young people, their whānau, and the health professionals who care for them,” says Jennifer Shields, PATHA President. “The High Court has recognised the harm this ban will cause, and the significant issues in the decision Cabinet made to restrict access to this life-saving care.” “We now know that the vast majority of public submissions and all affected groups consulted by the Ministry of Health supported continued access to this care. The Ministry of Health’s Regulatory Impact Statement recommended the status quo as the option that would do the least harm, with a ban having a high risk of adverse health outcomes due to the negative impact on the mental health of trans young people affected by this ban,” said Shields. “The court also found that the timing of these regulations - with no notice that a ban on prescriptions was on the table, let alone imminent - took PATHA, the trans community, and healthcare professionals by surprise. Justice Wilkinson-Smith also noted that this ban would have gone further than even the UK, with ‘scant’ evidence justifying the need for a total ban.” Addressing some of the misinformation circulating about puberty blockers, the Court noted they are reversible and have been prescribed for children with precocious puberty in New Zealand for decades. They may alleviate distress for a child who is simply not ready to cope with puberty either because they are too young or because their mental health is such that a delay is recommended. There is no evidence of long-term effects on fertility. The Court concluded the evidence relating to mental health outcomes suggests negative outcomes from a ban are a more immediate concern. PATHA is considering some technical details around the relief in this judgment, and whether any further action is needed.

NEWS: The Fourth Circuit, on a 2-1 vote, upholds West Virginia's abortion ban that effectively blocks medication abortion against claims from GenBioPro — the generic mifepristone drugmaker — that federal law preempts that aspect of the state's ban.

Judge Wilkinson wrote the majority opinion:
WILKINSON, Circuit Judge: After the Supreme Court "return[ed] the issue of abortion to the people's elected representatives" in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, 597 U.S. 215, 232 (2022), West Virginia enacted a law prohibiting abortion in most circumstances. The question before us is whether certain federal standards regulating the distribution of the abortion drug mifepristone preempt the West Virginia law as it applies to medication abortions. The district court determined there was no preemption, and we now do the same. For us to once again federalize the issue of abortion without a clear directive from Congress, right on the heels of Dobbs, would leave us one small step short of defiance. Appellant GenBioPro finds this clear directive in a maze of provisions in the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007. It argues that these provisions vested the FDA with the exclusive authority to regulate access to mifepristone. We disagree. In our view, the Act leaves the states free to adopt or diverge from West Virginia's path. Because the Act falls well short of expressing a clear intention to displace the states' historic and sovereign right to protect the health and safety of their citizens, we affirm. Our decision, by contrast, is a narrow one. We take no position on the wisdom or folly of West Virginia's abortion law. As Dobbs makes clear, that judgment belongs with the people and their elected representatives. One can of course agree or disagree with the Dobbs decision. But that is not the point. At a time when the rule of law is under blunt assault, disregarding the Supreme Court is not an option. We do not suggest that the FDAAA lacks any preemptive effect. States are certainly not free to dilute federal safety standards where they have been clearly established. Nor do we deny that Congress may preempt state abortion laws if it chooses to do so and acts pursuant to its enumerated powers. We simply hold that it must express that intention with the clarity befitting such a significant alteration to our system of dual sovereignty. Because the FDAAA does not do so, we decline to overturn the West Virginia law. The judgment of the district court is accordingly affirmed. AFFIRMED

The market is literally responding to that price signal - global clean energy capacity has increased 2.5x between 2015-2024, and trajectory suggests it will be 5x by 2030.

Has it been fast enough to reduce emissions? No. Need to do more.

Our energy consumption increased by ~14% in that time.
