A world where games and media expire on corporate schedules, preservation is piracy and modification is theft, is a world that has already lost its culture. If history is disposable, then the memory itself becomes a privilege, not a right.

As someone who was recently searching for gifts from artists and falling short, I highly recommend this. Fight AI slop and cheap Chinese goods! Support an artist and bring something truly unique and beautiful into your life.
For Small Business Saturday (and every day), consider supporting independent arts, crafts and more direct from creators right here on Bluesky! I worked with @davis.social to make the #BlueSkyNightMarket feed; add it here to shop: bsky.app/profile/did:...

Creators, check the flyer to participate!

Today's cute moment. <3
Glacier the skunk is chowing down on an apple in her home at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Until 1993, Glacier would have been in Family Mustelidae with weasels & badgers.

But molecular evidence showed that her ancestors diverged 60 MYA, so she gets her own family: Mephitidae which means, roughly, "stinky."

She's right. Just say no to AI. I know it's the bloatware you never wanted in every program you use lately, but this too shall pass. The more we refuse, the faster AI will become untenable for the elites.
More people should listen to @tressiemcphd.bsky.social

When people say AI is inevitable, let them know the future isn’t settled.

You deserve access to abortion care if you are pregnant and do not want to be. Full stop.

Your reasons are your reasons and they are good enough.

Abortion is healthcare and everyone deserves healthcare access.
You don’t need a traumatic or tragic story to deserve abortion care.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

If the Heritage Foundation really wants a better America that works for all of us...

They would disband tomorrow.

But they exist to protect the very wealthy and hinder democracy, and equitable wealth distribution.

They will continue to divide the people with draconian policies and fortify wealth.

But if course they are. They want the Christian version of Sharia law, and have ever since women started coming out of the kitchen. Because this shit is BAD when done by extremist Muslims, but FINE when done by Christians.

They don't hate Muslims; they're just jealous they succeeded at this first.
The Heritage Foundation has released a 250-year roadmap to “save America.”

The document is a how-to guide for subjugating girls & young women: a detailed plan to push them out of college, funnel them into early marriage and motherhood, and then trap them there.

This comes at the same time that the conservative movement is targeting young women more broadly—from tradwife bullshit to MAHA misinformation about birth control.

The goal is convincing the next generation that the rapid erosion of their rights isn’t a political crisis, but a lifestyle upgrade.

Oh but, *a woman* can't be responsible for the manly art of sci-fi! Every good fanboy knows their heads are filled with PlayDoh and clouds and unicorns, and they only exist in the community for sexy cosplay!

*has so many follow up rants that brain short-circuits*
Ooh, just saw “without Asimov there would be no science fiction,” and no, you stale crouton, you waterlogged saltine, without Mary Shelley—harassed by her husband and Lord Byron—there would be no science fiction.

You’re confusing fandom for canon.

I need everyone to know that on the crochet subreddit the mods made a big post about how they're taking a week off because there was too much fighting/political posts. so there's currently no mods on r/crochet and people are being absolutely insane

Smart kid.
When I was in high school I did a constitutional debate program and witnessed this exchange:

JUDGE: what’s your favorite amendment?

KID: the third

JUDGE: why the third?

KID: because if there’s soldiers in your house, the other ones really don’t matter

This is how I keep sane with the awful news. It has literally saved my mental health without me having to tune out completely. 'Tis free. 'Tis awesome.

And the dude who runs it seriously needs a medal of honor and fully paid therapy bills. I don't know how he manages to keep sane.
