The Labour response to Farage policy of leaving the Refugee & Humam Rights Convention should not be “he won’t deliver”.

It should be “this is not morally right” (not “British values” even).

Voters want to see authentic consistent leadership. Not debate the workability of cruelty.

Chiseled jawlines are in everywhere, but in Washington, D.C., people have even more reasons to go under the knife (or at least the needle).

So then Elon goes "Kill the Bill!" and Trump goes "Elon has TDS!" so Elon goes "I'm the reason Trump won!" so Trump goes "we waste billions on Elon!" so Elon goes "Epstein!" and a corpulent flunkie goes "Deport Elon!" and Elon goes "Impeach!"

And THAT'S why women are too emotional to be President.

This.

As I set out in a post, Trump is not a 'transactional' politician, but an anti-transactional politician.

Those pundits that trot out that he is 'transactional' don't get his approach to supposed deals. His MO is breaking deals not making them.

My post: emptycity.substack.com/p/why-donald...
No one in DC can bargain in good faith with Trump because he will not follow laws passed by Congress.

No one internationally can bargain in good faith with Trump because he will not respect agreements made by the United States.

Being a counterparty just makes you a target for another shakedown.

1/ Ok, so instead of just making jokes about the EU Reset, I wanted to do a very simplified thread on:
- what the actual problem is Keir Starmer is trying to solve;
- the options on the table; and
- why this shit is hard.

This will be very long. I'm sorry.

Let's get wonky.

I don't love it either, but I'm not sure how you tell a man that he should let his only surviving son rot in prison to respect norms, institutions, and the rule of law, when the country you devoted your life to serving just pretty comprehensively voted they don't give a shit about any of that.

It would have been a dramatic assertion of power by the President-elect if Senators felt they had to approve such an egregiously controversial and unsuitable appointment as Gaetz as Attorney-General

But is it not at least a tactical mistake to try and to fail, demonstrating limits of his power?

Ya'll here's my view as someone who gets called an "expert" on disinformation and right-wing politics. You don't need to worry about your bubble or an echo chamber. You already know how MAGA-aligned folks see the world. You don't have to engage with people who want to cause you harm.

£1.4 billion in a single year. There ought to be an inquiry into how the whole debacle was allowed to happen. Except it would just increase the costs. Absolutely astonishing waste of public funds.
The OBR say that £1.4bn will be saved in 2025-26 as a result of scrapping the Rwanda Plan and processing asylum claims again.

Absolutely appalling reporting by the BBC. A confirmed neo-nazi travelled miles with the deliberate intention of murdering an innocent person, purely based on them seeking safety. In no world is that a "protest". Just shelve the "legitimate concerns" bs.

The best writing advice I've ever gotten is to remember that the first draft is where you explain it all to yourself and then the second draft is where you explain it all to your readers.
Academic writing thought:

That it was hard for YOU to figure something out does not mean you should make it hard for the READER to get it

Explain as simply & clearly as you can

You do not need to take the reader through your lengthy journey to clarity

Work that took months may end up a footnote
