A panel from an August 1965 Peanuts strip. Snoopy stands on a beach, shocked, thinking “It’s her! My old skating girl friend! A beagle in a bikini!” I could tell you exactly which date this strip was from but due to the recent financial gatekeeping of the GoComics archive I no longer have immediate easy access to such information. I mean it’s $35 a year to read Peanuts. I love Peanuts but like come on its Peanuts you shouldn’t have to pay for Peanuts. anyways you can find it elsewhere pretty easily but the strips aren’t labeled by date in the Fantagraphics collections so. anyways

but when I neglect practicing music I feel an acute guilt that I don't feel the same way when I still haven't written a novel or gone to grad school. in fact I think those fantasies often intensify as compensation for feeling I won't make good music again

as a result i veer between throwing myself into identification with it when i feel I'm doing good work (presently) and repressing the memory of it when I feel I'm not (months and years at a time)
