So, El Fasher looks like one of the worst single event atrocities to happen this century so far, but the evidence has come in such a trickle it seems to only now be getting verified
At least 60,000 murdered in Sudanese city, which resembles ‘a slaughterhouse’
Satellite evidence shows extent of paramilitary massacre in El Fasher

#jazzsky #souljazz #loungesky #musicsky Frank Hunter and the Huntsmen, Watermelon Man, Epic, 1963. Very peculiar album, definitely a jazz album, but with soul-jazz grooves and easy-listening schmooze. Title track has bird calls and weird girl chorus sounds. And organ. Oh, baby.

The Seattle area also has a lot of Somali-Americans, 30,000 of them, and they are much, much better people and better Americans than your average Republican. The stuff coming from the President and the deranged nutcases in his administration is disgusting and wrong.
Tearing up reading this beautiful piece. I’m so angry at the hateful, racist rhetoric coming from this country’s national political leaders. And so grateful for the wonderful Somali community that is an essential part of the fabric of our beloved community in MN minnesotareformer.com/2025/12/10/h...

There are keychain whistles at eBay and probably elsewhere with slender profiles. Get one of these & you'll always have a whistle on you when you leave the house.
Do you have a whistle? Are you whistle trained? Is everyone in your house (above age idk 10?) trained ?
(my dogs don’t like it!)

Form a crowd stay loud. Tell targeted neighbors to stay inside when they hear whistles & don’t open the door.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

Some costs aren’t costs.
One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss
Copenhagen, the bicycle-friendliest place on the planet, publishes a biannual Bicycle Account, and buried in its pages is a rather astonishing fact.

It wasn't easy for Infantino to exceed Sepp Blatter's record for corruption, but he somehow did it with ease.

Fuck the World Cup. I've watched almost every game from 1986 to 2018, but this will be the second I've missed entirely even though it's partly in my city.
