ICE now has over 70 billion dollars to build more concentration camps.

Just in time for Independence Day.

God damn you, America.

Amen. It is cruel, hideous & inhumane in conception & execution. An indelible moral stain on America. Immigration reform? Of course & we have the resources to do it well. But it should welcome immigrants & refugees (we need & should want more) & always treat them with decency, due process & dignity.
Laughing in front of cages designed to hold migrants and refugees, many of whom came to this country fleeing extreme violence and poverty, and hoping to raise their children in a more compassionate country. And many of whom followed all the legal procedures to enter the country.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Say what you will about Trump threatening to strip citizenship from his critics and have immigrants put into concentration camps in a swamp, but he never did anything truly power-mad like forgive student loans.

ICE *already* can't meet their detainment numbers without rounding up children, veterans, people born in the U.S., people with no criminal records, people at immigration hearings, plus academics and visitors with valid visas.

So who do they plan to detain with >10x the budget?

The answer is: you.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

“GOP Rep. Hal Rogers, who has represented most of eastern Kentucky for more than four decades, voted for the House bill and has not publicly addressed its SNAP cuts. In his district, 22% of households are receiving SNAP benefits.”

Rogers has been in Washington way too long & gotten way too comfy.
NEW from me and @sylviaruthg.lpm.org: We went to food banks in Appalachian eastern Kentucky and heard about their fear over Congress considering major cuts to SNAP food assistance benefits in the reconciliation bill. It's a region where more than one in five rely on SNAP benefits.

Pack the Court. If we are serious about the defense of these rights, we pack the Court. Simple as that. They pack it back, we pack it again. We do it until we reach consensus on long-term reforms to the judiciary. I don't know what it's going to take for people to get it.

A smart and evil man manipulated a stupid and evil man into a war against a fanatical and evil regime.
