I'm not used to seeing Chicago in a shootout and I sure am not used to thinking "we can win one."

Clearing the decks a bit.

I’m Mike Ginocchio. I write at Fourth & Print, covering sports through reporting, longform, and culture.

Been a while since I've been on this app. Gonna keep it low-key, to be honest.

I've spent the last few weeks sick, overworked, and stressed out.

But now I'm healthy, now my work-life balance is normalizing, and my stress level is back to normal.

Time to get that podcast back on track.

Thanks to anyone and everyone listening for being patient.

ME: *writing in my journal with the sole aim of pissing off future historians and archaeologists* I returned to my home - which is built in the usual style - by the normal way, and prepared and ate dinner in the way I often but not always do

It is entirely possible to say that the Kansas City Chiefs are a really, really good football team AND say that they seem to get favorable calls from the referees a questionable number of times.

It is entirely possible to say Mahoms is a generational QB and also say he's a punk flopper. #NFL

I periodically come back to this video, because his brother's advice is something that inspires me: "Be strong enough to be gentle."

In the wake of this deluge of immaturity masquerading as masculinity, I think we could all learn from Optimus Prime.

Watching so many of the athletes I admired as a kid allegedly make terrible, terrible decisions as we all collectively aged has been one of the more sobering elements of becoming an adult.

Just because you can ball out doesn't make you a paragon of virtue. Need to keep reminding myself of that.
We, the sports-watching public, need to have a different conversation about the sole unanimous Baseball Hall of Famer.

I wonder how many people realize that so much of the Bible's modern interpretation is based on St. Paul's letters, several of which he wrote under duress and in prison by the Roman Empire, an institution that had a *vested interest* in keeping the status quo.

I’m not turning on the damn television today until it’s time for Ohio State vs Notre Dame and I highly recommend this course of action

I have grown up around Lions fans. I watched them hobble through the Matt Millen years, see a brief reprieve with Jim Caldwell, and then have Matt Patricia inflicted upon them.

Somehow, this loss seems even crueler than anything else they've been dealt over the last two decades. #NFL #Lions

A friendly reminder that, oftentimes, the most important politicians who seemingly do nothing to help you out are the ones that live in your same area code. #AllPoliticsIsLocal
i am a high earner in Portland, OR, which has one of the highest personal tax burden in the country. I would be fine with this if the money were being fucking spent to help people, but most of it isn't! i do not understand why this city government can't do a goddamn thing

These are the stories that I come to social media for.
Mom would have been 82 today. She died at 55. I recently realized that I am now older than she ever was, which seems like a fundamental wrongness in the universe.

I was particularly thinking about her penchant for taking a direct and vivid role in her schools’ disciplinary approaches. /1

I knew as soon as Pat McAfee wore that hat that he was gonna pick Ohio State. His whole schtick this CFP has been "long-winded rant explaining why one team is really good and why they should win...only to swerve us with his actual pick." He's too pro wrestling-coded at this point. #CFP #Texas #OSU

Pat McAfee taking 2+ minutes to milk it before finally making his Gameday pick is just peak McAfee, and I don't mean that as a compliment.

Forged in Fire is honestly some of the best background noise television and I simply can't explain how much I enjoy that show.
