Final day in the office, Christmas tunes in my ears, getting this bloody filing done 🎉

I shall endeavour to remember this for next year!
Reminder- you can make present opening more accessible/easier for people with hand mobility issues by wrapping/taping a ribbon around the inside of the wrapping paper, so the person opening it will tear it like a Baby-bell cheese

One day something will happen — a wedding, a graduation, a job promotion, Jake Paul getting knocked out, Andrew Tate getting knocked out the next day — and you’ll want the right outfit to celebrate. Buy that special outfit now, so you’re ready when that next unexpected moment arrives.

I left the house 9 hours ago for family Christmas. I'm taking a few minutes in relative quiet because I'm ceasing to function. Nine of us in a 2 bed apartment with one living area is a lot. My dinner was a hit, so I'm taking the win.

UPDATE on Nebula Awards and LLMs:

SFWA just announced: "SFWA does not support the use of LLM generative models in the production of creative work. … Works that are written, either wholly or partially, by generative large language model (LLM) tools are not eligible [in the Nebulas]."

The @sfwa.org has already revised the Nebula rules to disqualify works written wholly *or* partially with LLMs.

That was quick.

A Tesco delivery driver complemented my parallel parking today, he said my one-shot reverse park into my space was 'slick'. Which it was of course, but I had so much more room than usual, a metre either end of the car (I can do it with 20cm) he wasn't patronising either, he was genuinely impressed!

I wrote an episode of Love Death + Robots about that. It won an Emmy!

(Not for me, for the animators. Still.)

"Every Wood Elf knows that the more inward the part, the better it tastes. While other races cook their meat until it is dry and bloodless, and waste entrails and brains, the Wood Elf knows that these parts are the juiciest and therefore the most flavorful."

There’s no denying these eight-legged segmented micro-animals are pretty cute. But the real allure of the tardigrade lies in its incredible hardiness. These little “water bears” might just be THE KEY to helping cancer patients

I just wrestled my suitcase which contains 2 other suitcases into the top of my wardrobe (which is still new to me and quite exciting to have). I already have regrets in my shoulders and upper back. I sense regret will be visited upon me ten-fold tomorrow 😬

At present I have 13086 followers on Bluesky.

If each of those people read this extract and purchased the book (which of course could never happen) the royalties I received from that would not even come close to the sum my ex-publishers owe me.

I guess that's what you might call perspective.
I've removed the paywall permanently from this piece, which is a chapter from my novel Villager, told entirely in the form of an online village message board. If you like it, you'll probably like the book. If you don't, you won't...

The Village Message Board
Its authenticity was discredited because of his reputation, but also because he was quick with gin at the time and wearing an item of knitwear back to front.

Arrived home tonight to find my disabled bay occupied. Audi-owner arrives to move the car while I've got the hazards on to load/unload. 'Is this your space?' apologising that she didn't realise it was a disabled bay and 'don't lose your rag'. I call bullshit & referred to her as an absolute weapon.

I just bought some Christmas presents from Bookshop.org and couldn't be happier for avoiding Amazon wherever possible.
It's Small Business Saturday!

We know Amazon serves up irresistible deals, but a closer look at the label reveals unsavoury ingredients - including tax avoidance, worker mistreatment, and a deeply corrosive impact on our community shops.

Here is why Skyrim is weird.

You have a thousand locations that are mostly similar. Here's an orc village, here's a Nord village, here's a elf camp, etc.

Oh! And here's costume party that takes place in a demented clown's brain and all the goats can talk and you can win a wand that's a dildo.
